I've used paypal for many years and have never had a problem.
I hope you didn't respond to any emails from paypal and click on a link. Be careful of pfishing scams. Paypal is a very often a target of pfishers. |

I see some really mixed comments here - secure, fraudulent, foolery etc. I am a buyer for a long time have bought some serious stuff.
So if your PayPal account was compromised (by one of the phising emails) - i have a two step self test:
o login to to your PayPal.com account - if it succeeds most likely it was not compromised.
o see your account history: click "history" or "all activity" links. if you find transactions on your bank statement, it was compromised.
Contact PP customer service (i had to use it once because of seller dispute) and they were pretty responsive with email help.
Where for those comments which blame items not recieved and fraudulent activity - did you ever talk to PP customer service. especially for item never recieved.
most paypal sellers use PP shipping service so they can track if shipping address was provided by you. if yes, did the seller send the shipment. if yes, they can track it (so neither the buyer nor the seller can lie). |

Whilst Paypal is in general, pretty secure, have you had any e-mails lately ostensibly from PayPal asking for certain details or asking you to respond to a given access?,if so, you will have been caught by a pfishing scam which may explain the withdrawals. I had two things recently: one was an ebay e-mail saying I had been reported as a non paying buyer of an item(the date of such was when I was on a cruise in S.A) I didn't at first twig and responded. The next day I got what purported to be a letter from PayPal asking me to respond. By now being awake!, I sent it on to PayPal asking if it was genuine, the answer came back, No. The two things were obviously related, so check out your recent transaction/mail. Hope that helps.If you have had a similar happening, change your passwords etc immediately. |

Paypal is NOT secure. I stopped using it after a friend lost a lot of money to bogus companies she had never done business with. It was then she discovered that when you join paypal you waive your right to credit card fraud protection, so you can't claim the money back from paypal, like you would your bank.
There are a lot of anti-paypal sites and organizations on the web. I'd take a look. |

I used my credit card for pay pal account and I did not faced any such situation. I found them quite trustworthy. In fact they helped me to recover money I paid through them and I got the credit to my card of course they deducted their administrative expenses. |

Myself and my partner both use paypal personally and for business.
I hope I have got this correct as you have not fully stated but I assume that the mobile phone company have taken the money from you paypal account which was then deducted from your credit card, in which case contact paypal and dispute the payment, they are really effective.
It is extremely secure find out the name of the mobile phone company and enquire with them who the authorised the payment as the card is in your name and I assume so is the paypal account.
the only other explanation would be that someone else has been using you card. it would be an idea to find out if a family member has access and used it. |
