darko_d1 | Is Transunion the only credit bureau that matters? |
Seriously, about a little more than 100% of all important business check your credit report from transunion. Whats the point of the other Experian and Equifax? I looked at all 3 reports and all inquiries were on transunion. |

It actually depends on which part of the country you are in. There was a time when these companies were region specific and were independant of each other. In my part of the country, Equifax provides the majority of accurate information when I pull someone's credit. Also, lenders now utilize all 3 bureaus to get a median score for you.
I would guess that you are in the middle of the US somewhere if Transunion seems to get pulled more.
These companies have done business with one bureau for a long time and the cost has remained low so they don't bother to utilize other companies due to cost. |

All three credit reports are important. If you only check one you run the risk of someone opening accounts under your name without you knowing. It is best to monitor all three. It has been my experience that all 3 can contain different information. It has also been my experience that none of them are very accurate. For example Transunion has me working at a place that I have not been employed at for over 10 years. I have submitted corrections to them numerous times but nothing has changed. Experian doesn't show all of my credit and Equifax is simply a mess with personal information. Thankfully I have a credit score of 790 and none of their mistakes are affecting it. |

They all count. Don't think that they don't |

The agency these creditors use depends on accuracy and cost. Transunion doesn't cost that much to pull someone's report, but their information is not as up to date or accurate. Equifax is more accurate but costs a lot more, and they have more restrictions on who can pull their reports.
So by your question..."all important business's".....I would disagree. Major companies will pull all three, especially Equifax's.
Just my opinion on this though...I'm interested in seeing some other comments from people who pull for large companies. |

Like the first poster said a lot of it depends on where you are in the Country and where the lenders that you apply to are located.
I use 14-lenders and each one has their own default bureaus, some pull Equifax, some Transunion and a few Experian.
Most lenders go by Zip codes. |

I work for a credit card company...there are accually four credit reporting agencies now..but the top 3 Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion are the main ones...it just depends on the company and who they use...they all say about the same stuff but Equifax and Experian have a lot more info on them...you can always pull all three for free @ www.annualcreditreport.com if at anytime you go to another site and it asks for credit card or banking info...DONT GIVE IT TO THEM ITS NOT FREE. |

I recently paid for a credit report that gave me all the information that the "Big Three" had on me.
It seemed to me that TransUnion had more accurate information about me,but Equifax showed more inquiries into my file.
That could be a problem. One credit agency had up-to-date information about me,but most creditors were looking at another agency.
If you have good credit, but can't seem to get a good rate (or even get a loan at all!) then it might be a good idea to pay for a complete credit report that shows everything that the "Big Three" have to say about you.
That way you can give a potential lender a complete picture of your credit history, assuming that said lender is pulling your credit file from only one agency. |

Trans Union is the smallest of the so called "Big Three" credit reporting agencies. However, it is just as corrupt as the other two and unable to accurately produce your credit information.
NEVER TRUST ANY CREDIT REPORTING AGENCY! 80% of people's credit reports contain serious errors. 40% contain errors so serious it affects a person's ability to obtain decent financing. |
