Is a 606 credit score good for a beginner? Im new to this whole credit stuff!?
Im 19 years old and im just starting to go in this credit thing. i had a credit card now for a year. I had no problems and have been paying my bills on time. But I was shocked that my credit score was kind of low at 606! is this normal for a typical person who is new to the credit world?!?!? and will my score build up overtime?

If you have been paying bills on time every time, and have a low debt to credit ratio, the reason your score is low might be due to the short length of credit history. Credit history takes up a whopping 35 percent of your score!
If you have at least 2 years worth, the score goes up.
So, just keep building yourself up like you're doing.
My son has a 601 score. He has a credit line of 1800.00
He is building his history just like you are.
So, don't get discouraged!

606 is about D to D+

Since "length of credit history" is one of the components of your FICO score, then as long as you stay current on all your debts, your score will continue to go up.

BUT, the path to a high FICO score is NOT the same as the path to wealth, despite what Visa may advertise.

You must have defaulted or late paid some other credit balance. Also, if you are only paying minimum amount each month on your current card this too could be causing damage. Start paying a larger amount each month. Also, if you can, get another loan/ lease on your credit report. Do you have a cell phone? Car payment? Utilities?

606 is NOT ok for someone just starting out earning credit. There are some things that need to be answered first...how long have you been on file with the credit bureaus? How much balances are you carrying on your cards?

606 is fair. Don't go out opening a bunch of new credit cards. Take your time. Check your credit reports and see what's on there. You should be closed to 660 provided you have made your payments on time.

I know this to be true because I am a lender and I repair credit for individuals.

basicly as long as you keep paying your bills on time and develop a good hisotry with credit cards and dont take out alot of them ,you will get continually better

Yes that is fine for a beginner. To keep building your score keep the amount on your card low and continue those on time payments, paying more or all whenever you can. If you have been very responsible with that card, go ahead and try to get a second one just for the sake of having a card. Cut it up and don't use it, but keep the account open. Your score will go up if you have large amounts of open credit you are not using.

Credit history plays a part in your score. The longer you have good credit the better the score will be. Pay on time and try to pay in full. Don't open too many cards and don't ever cancel any of them (has a negative effect).

606 is pretty good. Just keep paying your bills on time. Keep a low balance on your cards.

And your fico will go up in time.

Good luck.
