Is a 772 credit score high?
I don't really know how the system works. I just got my credit score.

FICO scores range from about 300 to 850 and exhibit a left-skewed distribution with a US median around 725.

In the US, 13% of the population has a credit score above 800. 60% have a credit score below 750. So with 772, you're probably in the top quarter to top third of the general population.

A score above 720 is considered to be "good credit," and a score below 600 is considered to be poor. 760 - 850 is generally considered the highest range and gets you the lowest interest rate.

That score is high enough for you to obtain the best possible interest rates on loans. The cutoff for first tier of rates is either 720 or 740. Since you aren't too familiar with the system, you probably haven't had to borrow money for much of anything. It is better to stay that way and stay off the debt highway. Really, the only thing a person should really borrow money for is a house.

congrats on the 772!!! i work in the financial industry and that is a great score.

Yes, that's a good score. I think the average score in the US is in the 670's.

It's not enough to be able to buy whatever the bank says yes to. One late payment and next month you pay double. If you mess up and over extend yourself you will be hard pressed to cover your debt. Save for a rainy day. Here is a good way to look at it. If you want to buy something and can put away for 3 months say $500.00 and you don't feel broke by paying this out every month then look at buying but remember to keep that savings in case you loose your job or break a leg and can't work for a while and then you can keep what you bought and not have to sell it to survive. The most important thing is to shop interest. Be frugal and respect your ability to buy on credit. When you can't pay on time fees apply and interest goes up and credit score goes down and in time you won't be able to purchase a house, car or business. Congrats!

It's a really good score.

I think the highest score you can get is 850, so a 772 is really great. Anything over 720 is perfect, and you can write your ticket anywhere.

That score is excellent and I think if you want to finance something, the creditors will accept the loan easily.

John H
Great score should give you the best rates when applying for a loan.

Goldlion168
holy moly, that's very high score

YES! Bravo! cool keep up the awesome job. Low and Fair is about a score of 620 I think 800 is the MAX.

A credit score of 772 is fantastic! I've been working in the financial industry for four years, and any score over 700 is good. As someone who processes and approves loans, I can tell you theat I rarely see a credit score that high. However a high credit score is not enough, on its own, to guarantee you approval for a loan. A financial institution will also take into account your debt to income ratio, your amount of time on the job, your income, and wheather or not your collateral (if any) is suffucient to cover the amount of the loan. For example, it is not likely to get approved for a 10,000.00 car loan if the car is only worth 5,000.00. Let me know if you have any more questions. I'm happy to help! Congrats on the 772 score. It shows you take your financial responsibilities very seriously. Your credit score is one of the most important things in your life. You're on the right track.
