Hi twin,
Most hotels need a credit or debit card (with a credit card logo) to hold the hotel. Usually when you check out, you're allowed to use cash. You may want to ask before you book the room, each hotel may have a different policy. |

you should use a credit card to hold the room only and only if your sure your going to go because they will charge the card if you dont show up thoes dates. Give the Hotel a credit card and ask them to hold the room let them know you will pay cash when you get there and they wont charge the card if you ask them not to but you will still get the reservations, keep in mind that most hotels still like to have a credit or debit card on file in case you trash the hotel and have a crazy party and pee on everything in the room they will charge your credit card for the items you damaged or you can put up more upfront cash to cover the cost, as long as you dont wreck the place youll get it back. you wont be able to get roomservice usually or drinks to your room if you dont have a credit card they can charge on file |

The majority of hotel require a credit or debit card w/Visa/Mastercard logo on it. The ones that don't will require you to pay a larger amount of which part of the money will be refunded on check out. |

a lot of hotels use the credit card to have on file for incidentals.
do you have a debit card? you can use that the same as a credit card. they will only charge your card if you have damages to the room. |

At holiday inns and studio 6s and red roof inns. Cash is fine. But at the hilton, or the marriot, or the like . Credit card is a must. This is for insurance purposes. |

Whilst it's true that many hotels require a credit card, you can ask to offer up a cash deposit in addition to a cash payment for the room if you have the disposable income. If the clerk refuses this, ask to speak to the manager and propose a cash deposit- as you'll likely find they will agree to it. |

It depends on the hotel chain...ie Hilton will want a credit card for room incidentals, but maybe a local hotel will accept cash. As stated before you can walk in and pay cash, but they may ask for a small deposit in case there are extra charges. |

A large number of hotels/motels are implementing this strategy not only for simplicity but for security purposes and identification reasons.
But i'm sure some hotels may allow cash with sufficient id's (e.g. driver's licenses, medical card, etc)
They want you to believe that they are doing this because it is the Hotel management policy to accept this as the only payment method.
They want to make sure if something goes wrong, they can track the person with reasonable identification.
If they were to accept cash...any tom, dick and harry can get a room and be on with it...so logically it only makes sense. |
