I've bought a bunch, both from Amazon and the affiliate sellers and haven't had a problem.

If you buy from an affiliate, just make sure they have a good rating.

Nothing in life is guaranteed, but there ya go.

It's about as safe as using it anywhere else. There's a possibility it can be stolen.

Or if someone gets into your account, they could purchase using your card. Amazon's default behavior stores your credit card number. If someone gets your ID/Password, they would have access to your card.

Your goal of becoming a big Internet shopper is a glorious one. Best of luck with that.

I have used Amazon several times and had no issues. It is a secure site, If your dad is worried about his card being hacked, then he can call his credit card company and get a one time use number. Hope this helps =)

Just for certain customer relations, but not ordering.

A lot of the compaines that are with amazon can take orders, and then you can mail in payment with a check.

I have been buying thinsg from amazon for years-
o problems yet!

yea its fine, we buy stuff from them all the time with a credit card and we neve had any problems

It looks like they do provide a way for you to not have to enter the full CC number on the site. It also says they will provide you with a phone number to call after you place the order.

From the Amazon help pages:

Is it safe to enter my card number online?

You can safely enter your entire credit card number via our secure server, which encrypts all submitted information. If you prefer, we also have a way for you to use your credit card without ever having to enter the complete number on the Internet.

When filling out the order form, simply enter the last five digits and the expiration date of your credit card on the order form. This gives us a way to track your order but guarantees your security. Once you have fully submitted your order, you will be provided with a phone number so that you may provide us with the rest of your credit card number.

Please note, however, that this option is not available for orders placed with Amazon Marketplace sellers.

I just ordered a bunch of DVDs yesterday. I have never had a problem with them they are satisfaction guaranteed and they have a variety of things, I also order some of my textbooks from there. I have heard of other sites having problems, but amazon is one of the more safer ones... at least from my personal experience.

I've used Amazon many many times, with credit card. No problems.

An alternative to consider is PayPal or Google checkout.

With all the identity theft going on, I understand you Dad's concerns. But if you take the precautions and use an active credit card account that you receive monthly statements on, then you have it made. If someone gets the number, you're on the horn with the CC company and it's shut down.

I personally worry a lot more about my mailbox than I do about a secure website

Oops, I did it again...........

Don't know about # to call but I have used amazon with my cc and never had any trouble. If he is worried though you might consider a green dot cc that you pre pay and can pick up at Walgreen's or Walmart
