~You need to feel good about the fact you are actively working on improving your credit. I don't know anyone who hasn't made mistakes in their life which may be embarrassing if you let what others think about your personal life matter to you. It's how we grow and learn. My answer is NO, you should not feel embarrassed, instead take pride in yourself for recognizing a problem you have and correcting it. Best of luck to you, good credit is something you will always appreciate!~~ |

You're not alone my friend. I too have bad credit and I feel the same way especially now that I am making better living and I have been financially responsible for the last 2 years. No one cares about any previous hardships you may have had or that you were young and ignorant and didn't know the importance of a great FICO score.
It is just going to take some time to improve. Remember, at your funeral no one ever mentions crap like that. People remember what a great person, friend, sister, brother, son you were and how you help make the world a better place and all the good times you shared.
Keep it in perspective and use those negatives feelings as motivation & reminder to keep good habits and keep focusing on improving it. Trust me, when my score is back in the 700s I WILL APPRECIATE IT AND NOT BE IRRESPONSIBLE AGAIN. |

I understand, I was embarrassed about my bad credit. Mine began while in college. Wanted things I couldn't afford and companies kept giving me credit cards....more than I could afford. I decided to fix my credit myself using a "Do it Yourself" guidebook. I got mine at http://buildmycreditscorefast.com/bonus/ I am still reading through it, but there was one chapter on changing your credit in 30 days that AMAZINGLY worked. Just through Experian alone I use to have 14 negative marks on my credit report....now I have 3; with 1 of them falling off in October of this year and the other two by April of 2009. I can't say enough great things about the outcome. I hope that this helps :) |

IMO, If you've realized it's very important to have good credit to get a lot of things in life, then you have nothing to be ashamed of. If you've realized where you went wrong to get this bad credit...you've learned a valuable lesson that will help you the rest of your life. Everybody makes mistakes. It just matters rather or not we learn from them. Bad credit isn't a death sentence, you can definitely improve it little by little. |

Not at all. You're not the only one and millions of people have been in your shoes (myself included). It's a lot better that you're cleaning it up as opposed to those who are still wallowing in their debt misery.
There is an embarrassing component to it because it's not the ideal. But like I said, deal with it now and reap the benefits of your hard work later. |

You know you need to clean it up. Not just for your credit and to fulfill that responsibility, but simply for yourself. Obviously you care and you're doing what you know and feel you need to do.
You'll feel amazing when you pay everything off. I'm in the process of doing it too so I know how you feel. It sucks but it kind of feels great. |

No I dont feel you should be embarassed, we all go through tough times and fall short every now and then. Its just sad that the credit agencies, or the companies reporting to them cant understand that.. So dont be asamed just do what you have to do to correct the problem. |

No, there isn't a perfect person out there in this world. We've all done something that others might find shameful. Don't be embarrassed. Just do what you can to clean up your debt. Keep paying everything, and remember that one day this debt will be paid and gone. You'll breathe easier then. Good luck to you. |

It depends on how bad your credit is. 600 or lower needs to be improved. Dont be embarrased sometimes people get behind. What i would recomend to get it back up is to 1. stop using credit cards 2. if you do stop purching items over 200 dollars on a credit card, withdrawl it. Also try to buy some small items on a credit card so it can be easily made up. It will take time this way but you wont have to worry about it going any lower. Goodluck |

It's good that you feel that way because it makes you strive harder. If you didn't care and didn't feel any shame, then you need professional help.
Just be more responsible in the future, and slowly build up your credit. Your credit history tells a potential lender or your landlord/landlady and your potential employer what type of person you are.
Remember that each year you can get your credit report for free, without any gimmicks, every year, from http://www.annualcreditreport.com |

In a way it's worse to be the recipient of a bad check-depending on the amount, of course. |

You should be embarrased for being so haphazard with your credit in the first place. You either spent beyond your means or figured the card was a blank check. Bad money management is usually the cause for bad credit. You screwed up so you have the guilt. |
