Yes, but be absolutely sure you make the payments on time!! Put a pruchase on there then pay it off in full. Do this a few times, then charge more and make payments on it. It can work OK if you are commited to making the payments. |

Yes! Get credit cards- they cannot hurt you if you don't rack up debt on them (which takes some serious will power). I would apply for a credit card and cut it up. If you do want to use it, pay it off every month. This is vital if you want to avoid the credit trap.
This book has some great info on how credit services judge your rating: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1600200400/ref=cm_arms_pdp_dp/002-2120499-0853612 and it also has some clever ways to make a few extra hundred dollars in the mean time!

Yes, it is. Just be wary of cards with annual fees or insane interest rates. You may have no choice but to put up with them while you're building up your credit, but get rid of them as soon as you can. |

If you're going to do this then please please please remember to act your wage. If you're going to charge something on a card then be sure you have the money in the bank to pay it off each month.
The average American is something like 35,000 dollars in credit card debt. That's your future is you don't have the discipline to pay it off each month.
The best method to assure financial freedom is to pay cash. |

Only if you pay it off completely every month. Try using the credit card to pay for your everyday expenses that you can afford to pay off every month. Don't overdo it. When I got my first credit card, I went on a shopping spree and it took me months and alot more money to pay off that first bill!
Paying only the minimum balance every month doesn't really help, and will only make you pay more money for something than if you would have paid cash (if you're being charged interest and/or fees, of course) |

If you have the money, I would get a car instead. That way, you're not forced to spend it.
If you do have the financial discipline, get a card, but with a LOW balance. That way, if you do run into financial difficulties, you're not screwing yourself, financially. |
