no its not impossible.
im in the UK, ive never heard of a secured credit card.
HOWEVER, Credit card providers normally process applications using credit scoring, voters roll checks etc but some providers computer systems assess your existing account conduct and automatically offer a recommended credit card or loan amount on guaranteed acceptance (therefore not performing the usual checks)
also i know of people who have sever outstanding delinquent debt yet they have been offered loans, overdraft and visa cards after making a normal full application. |

If you have a poor credit history a secured card or an instant card may be your only option. An instant approval card typically will have a higher interest rate than other cards, and like a previous person a secured card is secured by the deposit you make on them. I have found a comparison site that offers both of these types of card. If you apply the worst they can do is turn you down so i would say apply for a secured or instant card to start rebuilding you credit.

No, it's not. Many lower tiered issuers will give out cards, even with items on your credit report that are in collections. First Premier and Orchard cater to those kinds of situations, try them. |

No, not impossible. It all depends on your overall credit score.
An item in collections will bring your score lower but if that is your only issue, then you should be ok, assuming you have a credit history and consistent income, etc. |
