Is it possible to live happily ever after without a credit card?

Susana C
Yes, I don't have one and I sleep quietly, without debts !!!!
And remember the best things in life are FREE

Zenas Walter
Yep ... lost the privelage do to my own stupidity, and have had to find ways to fall back on to pay bills and buy things over the internet ... why pay someone for your money ... its yours ... keep it :)

want2help
With the advent of debit cards, the credit cards sole purpose is to allow you to spend cash you do not have. While this can be useful, you are much more likely to live happily ever after WITHOUT a credit card than with one.

jlrgds
yep.

Yes-- but it does effect your credit-- negatively. It sucks, but they expect you to have debt-- or access to debt-- to build your score. Think about opening a card but never using it...even that will help.

If you have a home loan, car loan, and maybe some other stuff...that might be enough in place of a CC. But you NEED something on your report or you wont get a score or a good score.

If you can manage your finances then you don't need a credit card. If you can't then you should have a card anyway. They give people a false sense of money. Your better off working it out so that you don't have to have one. Work hard and pay for things with the money you have now instead of the money you haven't gotten yet.

Yes, it is, and I lived a lot of years that way.
But I find having one to be very very convenient -- I don't have to go to the counter at the gas station; I can just use my credit card in the machine.
Since I'm not writing checks, I don't get them back. LOL.
I use my credit card to pay my bills online. More convenience without a trip to the post office.
Then, I pay my credit card bill online from my bank account! Life is good.
This year, I will write only two checks (both for auto insurance). My credit card just gets handier and handier.

Be happy as you see fit -- and, if you do ever get a credit card, make absolutely sure to pay the bill completely every month before the due date!

Yes, it is very possible. We decided several years ago to get out of credit card debt and we paid everything off. We have not had a credit card since. It is really nice to know that when we need something we pay cash for it and we owe no one. I have also rented a car. I went to the agency here in my town told them what I wanted and paid for it up front. Then picked it up in the city we flew too. Same with hotels. We have been so much happier without credit cards, no high interest fees, no worry about paying something off. I would suggest it for anyone! When we travel, we also get travlers checks from our bank. They are accepted everywhere. Try it! You'll like it!!
