Scams. The only way to repair your score is by paying your bills. |

Most of it is scam. They can offer you suggestions you could find on your own and may write letters you could do yourself. |

Depends on what you would call a "scam".
What these companies do is get a copy of your credit report, examine it, send letters, make phone calls, and suggest ways to you that will improve your credit score.
This is the very same things you can do yourself! So why would you want to pay someone a few hundred dollars to do the same thing?
The problem is that you are not educated on the law, and don't know how to go about fixing your credit.
If you want to take a few moments to study the links I've supplied below, and if you are willing to spend some time writing letters and making phone calls....I can save you some money.
Or, just hire one of those credit fix-it companies and waste your money.
Word of advice. When you are trying to clear your credit history, you are going to war! Your only weapon is knowledge of the laws, so don't attempt to go any further until you do some homework. The links below will help.
Need more advice or encouragement, contact me. |

These types of places are trying to get your money. There are places that will help you restore your credit, like credit counseling agencies; but any company that says "send us $$$ & we will erase bad debt from your credit report for you" is just wanting your money that you could be spending to clean up the credit in the first place.
Keep your money in your pocket & pay the debts yourself. Don't trust anyone to clear up your credit report, but you. |

It's a scam, because you are the only person who can improve your own credit score by making payments on time. There is nothing that these companies can do that will legally imprve your credit score. The score itself is based on the amount of open balances you have, whether you are paying your bills on time or not, and a few other factors. But I think these are the two most important factors.
If you really want to improve your credit, try not to increase your debts, make payments on time to all of your creditors. If you can afford it, go to you bank and open a secured loan whereby you give them say $2500.00 for a loan, that way they your money to hold as collateral for the $2500 loan, then pay off the loan on time and that will have an impact on your score.
Also, go to annualcreditreport.com and get a report on yourself that shows all of your open balances and activities, make sure everything listed is correct, if not report any discrepancies. It's free if you only want the report, but there is a fee if you want your actual credit score as well, but it's very cheap, it's like under $10, I think. You're allowed to pull one report on yourself once a year for free.
Good luck! |

It's not a scam if they help you get innaccurate information off your credit report and/or information that is too old. Inaccurate information gets wrongly reported on credit reports every day. And credit agencies often neglect to pull off old items. But before you give money to any credit cleaner, get a written contract. In my state, a credit cleaner has to give you a written contract and cannot take your $ before the job is done UNLESS they're bonded and the written contract tells you how to proceed against the bond if they screw you. But that's my state..... |

just like any industry, most are legit but some have some scams. you need to research any and every company you choose to work with. one website I would reccommend you check out is www.entrustsystems.com/wow they are there to track your non traditional re-occuring monthly payments - things like cell phones, rent, electricity, storage units, trash pick up, cable bills, etc. These things are not generally tracked by experian, equifax and transunion but because entrustamerica tracks them, it could help your credit score improve dramatically. check it out, but only work with a program that you are comfortable with.
njbadboy above does not seem to realize that not everything is a scam, there are many legitimate companies out there who do have your best interest in mind. yes, they may have a charge attached, but isnt that what just about what evey single company does to stay in business whether it is a service (accountants, tax preparers, bankers etc) or a product (auto dealers, retail stores, restuarants etc.). |

Yes, its possible. The credit cleaning agencies charge you for work you can do individually. You can view your credit for free every six months from one of the 3 major credit bureaus. If anything looks out of place, or you would like to challenge a charge, you may take necessary steps to do so. The steps are usually a hassle, but as long as your diligent its possible to clean up your credit. |

You can get inaccurate data taken off yourself, you just have to be diligent about it. do you even know what's on your credit report? |
