Is my credit score good or bad?
I just checked my credit score which is 778. I think its not bad but the website I got this from says I am on grade C and 51% of population has better credit? does that mean its a bad score

I thought any thing over 750 was excellent in there. I looked up my score and the page shows 350 to 850 and 750 is at the end of good followed by very good.

dmoney
Let me put it this way.

800 is the highest and 350 I think is the lowest. To all banks you are A++ paper which means you could get a loan for just about anything you want considering your debt ratio could pay for it.

A 778 is a good credit score. What credit union is this score from? I'm pretty sure the best score you can have is like an 820.

778 is pretty good. 850 is as high as it gets.

that's actually really good. it may be referring to your history of bill payment. they want to see you making large payments $500+ over a series of months to make sure your reliable.

Submissive
no. if your score is 700 to 800 then your score is good to excellect credit. Keep up the good work!

A W
At 778, you have FANTASTIC credit. And the website lied....51% of the US population does NOT have better credit. If that were true, we would not be in the credit situation we are in.

salamander2090
um 778 is almost perfect. in fact, its awesome. i dont know what website you were looking at but 800 is the best and its practically impossible to get that so your is really really good.

That is a pretty darn good score, the top is 850 so you are pretty well up there! Below is a link to an article about credit scoring, it states that you are in the most preferable range. The web site could have taken in other items than credit to give you the result of that as a C such as debt to income ratios or past bad debts that may make you a larger risk even though your score is good.

jj.wolfman
778 is great...
you're above way more than 51% of the population...trust me
usually the 760-850 is rated as excellent, so you're doing pretty good

It seems as if you have retrieved your VantageScore, which is the only scoring model that uses letter grades and is judged on a slightly different scale than the traditional FICO score.

778 is categorized as a C.

You should try to get a FICO score to judge your credit rating because that is more common. If you have a C rating with VantageScore, you probably have between a 600 and 700 of a FICO score, which is about average. But average is still considered good credit.

778 is definitely better than "c". 51% of the population definitely does not have a score better than 778. 850 is the highest credit score. 778 is pretty f'n good.

Beesonbuck
That is good and i really dont think 51% of the population is higher than you. Ther average is between 600-700.
