A debit card can be used as a credit card. I use mine that way all the time. Most businesses want you to use it as a debit card as they must pay for purchases made with a credit card. Try it for yourself.
PS...Lady Kay doesn't know what she is talking about. A debit card can be used both ways. |

You can use it as a debit or credit card. The only difference is: when using as a debit, you have to enter your PIN number; when using as a credit card, you must sign the store's sales receipt.
For security purposes, most of the time, I choose to use my card as a credit card - that way, I am assured that I made the transaction should anything funky start happening with my account. |

Because it is a Master Card debit card it can be used as a credit card only if there is money in your account. It will not advance you credit. you need to think of it more like a check card. |

It's a debit card - anything you purchase with it will come out of your checking account balance. |

Its a debit card, not a credit card. The only significance of Mastercard being on the card, is to let you know that you can use the debit card for purchases any where Mastercard is accepted, provided you have the funds to cover the purchase in the bank.
Jessica Rabbit ~ You may able to choose to process your debit card as a credit card, but that does not mean you have a line of credit. With a credit card you have a credit limit to purchase with, with a debit card your purchase can not exceed the funds that you have in the bank. |

A debit card has a debit/credit function. Basically here is the deal and hopefully some people who don't know what is going on who answered will get educated.
Debit side is the side you use to get cash it has a small limit per business day (generally 500). This transaction is put through your account immediately. If the funds are not there or you don't have an overdraft it will be denied.
Credit side is the same thing it is deducted from your account immediately and if the funds are not there it will be denied unless you have an overdraft. The credit side usually has a higher limit and does not affect the amount of cash you can get per business day (1500 to 2000). The big difference is that when you use credit vs. debit it will generally stay pending for 2 to 3 days before posting to your account. |

when opening an account at the bank you can get a debit card which has access to your checking account funds. the debit card has the visa or MasterCard logo on it because you can take it anywhere to use that accept those cards. it is not a credit card because credit cards has interest rates and fees that go along with their cards. your bank do not. the bank offer a debit card as a convenience to u if u do not like writing checks every time u make a purchase at a store. also a debit card uses your actual funds u place in your account without all those high interest rates and extra fees and bills. credit card u have to pay interest including the amount u purchase and it take 4 ever to pay back. so if u not want bill stick with the debit card! credit cards is nothing to play with. |
