The best way to get loans for school is filling out the fasfa and stateing that you have parents with bad credit..... The FASFA program is a govt based program that awards financial aid to students in need.... If your parents make a lot of money and they have bad credit your best answer would be to join the military reserves and get tuition assitance and apply for a ROTC scholarship for free federal money but be prepared to serve for some years after to pay back loans. If education is everything to you like it is to me then this will be a small price to pay and if you are scared of going to Iraq then do Navy ROTC. you never hear about sailors getting killed in car bombs.... |

Yes. If you are in financial need, visit your university's financial aid office or bursar. There are government-backed, low-interest student loans. But there are things you need to know.
First, you will be required (if you are under 21) to obtain your parent's tax records that prove that they cannot afford to contribute to your college education.
Next you will need to gather your income tax records to show financial need. These are submitted with your student loan application.
Educate yourself. A good provider of student loans is Nelnet (www.nelnet.net). Read the information there. Talk to your financial aid advisor as well because they are well-informed about the options available for funding education.
Even if your parent has bad credit, you will need to go through the "routine" and jump through a few hoops. You will need to have the co-signer turned down before you are eligible to obtain the loans on your own as a student.
Also there are Pell grants available for deserving students. These grants are not loans, and you do not have to pay them back. Depending upon your income levels, they can provide part or nearly all of the funding for one year of tuition. Again, your student financial aid officer can guide you through this process. |
