Is there a place to ACTUALLY get your credit score FREE?
...without signing on for something or buying anything?

Yes, but only once a year.

www.annualcreditreport.com

The answer is NO!
Now to get some things corrected, first of all, checking ones own credit score does not affect your score, that is a myth.

Next annualcreditreport.com does NOT give you a free score either. They will get you your three credit reports for free (once a year) but you will have to pay each CRA a fee for your score.

As to freecreditreport.com, don't believe you can simply try it and cancel that easy even within the 30 day trial period. Read the fine print in their terms of agreement first.

The only way to get a free credit score (and this would be from only one reporting agency) is through some credit card companies (Chase, Providain) who provide it as a free service. However it is not the actual score, just close.

Contrary to the other posters, you CANNOT receive your credit score free....at all. To see your official FICO scores, you need to purchase them from http://www.myFICO.com. It costs $15.95/per score from each bureau. If you google "myfico discount" you can find a coupon for 20% off.

Don't bother paying to see other scores as those are FAKOs; only FICO scores are used by lending institutions.

No. Credit scores always cost money. Credit reports, in the US, are free once a year.

sadly no, every freebie place always has strings attached. Seems like false advertising.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Nope, only if you are a business checking on someone. Then all that info is free.

You can get your credit report free from annualcreditreport.com but you have to pay like ten dollars or something to get your credit score.

Hello my friend,

Lots of misinformation posted here.
Your home state (I won't post it here) has a law requiring the three bureaus to provide a completely free annual report. Check your state's website for more info.. If that fails, check with a local library for help.

pretty much all of those sites are going to make you sign up for something. it's usually free for 30 days and if you don't cancel, than they hit you with a fee. simply sign up to get your credit score and then cancel it the next day. that's what i do. as for the person that said that checking your own credit score lowers your score, that's simply not true. it's only hard inquiries against your credit that lower scores (ie when you apply for a car loan and they run your credit).

Unfortunately all I've heard of is ones where you sign up for something...BUT freecreditreport.com has your Experian score, you justh have to remember to cancel before it charges you... I think they give you about a month, so just make a note to yourself and cancel and it will be free.

Chase bank (if you are in the US) also has them if you sign up for something, but that too can be cancelled before you get charged.

andy
No, you can only get your credit reports for free not your credit score. Your credit score should only cost $10 each.

paul b
The fool above is wrong, when you order your report from Experian etc, it doesn't lower your score. As in free the cheapest you can get is the basic report that has a charge of £2.00 stirling.

Don't let anyone check it- it goes down whenever you do that!

morristownprophet
No, because even if you don't do any of that when you check your score it goes down, every time you check it.
