Is there a possible way to live without credit?
Don't you hate being a slave to banks and credit card companies?Even when buying a house, which people think it's theirs but it actually isn't until it's completely paid off like in 30 years. So, is there really a possible way to live your life credit free?

Sure, pay cash for everthing.

Remember though, insurance companies, employers, etc do credit checks on you.

I hope you like carrying a massive wallet and most likely getting robbed.

It is difficult, but necessary for most people. I have mostly paid cash for everything in my life and that has served me pretty well. I bought my last house, car, and boat all with cash and I don't owe anybody anything. My business on the other hand, has to rely on lines of credit since my huge customers feel that they can just pay whenever they want, so I put out up front labor and overhead and have to wait 60 to 90 days for payment. I tend to get into huge cash flow holes and MUST rely on credit during those times. So the banks make me have a "personal guarantee" which, to me, defeats the whole purpose of incorporating anyway. The whole thing is a mess if you ask me.

Of course there is. Depending on your circumstances, you should arrange your financial dealings in a way that is comfortable to you. Most people do find it useful to buy their houses and cars using credit. But not everyone does that. You need to decide what is the best plan for you and then follow it.

I'm certainly not a slave to banks and credit card companies and you need not be one either. I suggest that if you do use a credit card that you pay the balance in full each month. Paying interest on credit card debt is a killer.

I live credit free, meaning I spend my own money. My credit card might sometimes forward the money for me but then I just pay it off via internet banking.
I don't understand why some people answered that you must carry a big wallett and such.
Pardon me but those "slaves to credit card companies" aren't clever people and as such they deserve what they get.
Buying a house is a better compromise because in 10 years it'll be increased in value. I know people who have earned $100K a year out of their house price value.

there is a possible way to live without credit, but a potential employer may frown on it if they dunno how responsible u r. NOWadays they DO check reports, but from what I read they cannot legally refuse 2 hire u on that alone.

Best Wishes!!!

Sure you can live without a credit card but it depends how old you are, When i was in my 30's it was impossible to live without it. I'm 64 now and have no need for credit although I have a Visa card in case of emergency. The question you should ask a family member is, how did we survive without major credit cards before? The answer is simple, we did. When I was 16 in 1961, gas was .14c a gallon and the movies were $1.00

YES U CAN, No more being a slave, U R so right. if u living off of credit now, develop a plan to get off credit and just use, cash, checks and debit cards. also, live within your means, it can be done and people are doing it and i want 2 B one of those people to join u.

heybulldog
Sure you can.

Banks brainwash people into thinking they need a credit card and a fico score to make it in todays world. That's a total load of crap!

If you pay as you go. If you live on less money than you make. You will not have any payments. You will have money and you will not have to worship the almighty fico score.

You don't need a credit score to get a job or an apartment. A bad score from borrowing money and not paying it back is the problem.

The only time you might have to borrow money is for a home. You don't need a fico score for a home loan. You can find a bank that does manual underwriting. It's how home loans were givin' before all the fico score worship. Back before bankruptcy and debt was almost unheard of. Now days with fico score lending bankruptcy and debt are out of control.

The only people that think you need to worship the fico are the ones who make money off of it.

Debt free is the way to be.

These people that tell you to be prepared to carry lots of cash are idoits. They have never heard of a check book or debit card.

Hey Jantky,

I know EXACTLY what you mean. The funny thing is if you just have a little bit of knowledge about how to maintain your credit, having credit isn't the drag it seems to be. In fact it can open up so many doors for you.

I guess what I'm saying is a little knowledge can go along way.

OR (like others have said)

...be prepared to carry a lot of cash with you.
