Well, yes and no. You can get your credit report for free once a year at: https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp
To see your score, you normally have to pay.
Stay away from freecreditreport.com They are a commercial site selling a product. To get access to your credit report you have to sign-up for a credit monitoring service they charge a recurring fee for. annualcreditreport.com is the official free site that all three major credit unions are required to participate in. |

Credit Reporting Agencies are not required to give out your credit score, only your credit report.
Note that these companies that offer to sell you your credit score are mostly fraud. Most companyes who access the three large reporting agencies receive a FICO score. Companies like FreeCreditReport use their own scoring system and it may be quite differant then FICO.
It's recommended that if you really want your score, go to the home site for FICO at http://www.myfico.com
The advantage of going here is they will not only give you your score, but also a detail report on why it's bad and how to correct it.
I'm not advertising this site over any others...but from what I've seen this is the best. |

No. Some web sites advertise for free to you , but then they have all your personal information, and what they do with that is sell it and make money, at your expense.
You do not want to find out 10 years from now you are wanted for murder or tax evasion.
Pay the fee TRANSUNION or EQUIFAX has and you'll be safe from theft of all kinds. |

yes, just search for 'free credit report' and you'll find a bunch. if you want it immediately online, they're gonna make you sign up for something and give you a credit card number, but its usually something thats free for 30 days. So i get mine, save it, and then call right then and cancel whatever i signed up for. freecreditreport.com will give you one score with your report, otherwise, you have to pay for the score. If you are turned down for a credit card, you can call the number on the letter and get a free credit report and the score is $6.00, thats the lowest price i know. |
