Bad credit is still better than no credit. There are many special offers for people with bad credit history. Of course, credit cards for bad credit history have fewer benefits and more limitations than credit cards for good credit. Go to http://www.rebuild-credit-cards.com/ They offer many options for bad credit or no credit.
You can apply for a secured credit card. It requires a deposit with the issuing bank. This amount, to secure a credit card, is usually only in the hundreds of dollars. It is held as collateral while the bank issues credit of some percentage of the deposited amount often 100%. In many cases, the card is reported to the credit bureaus as a normal (i.e. unsecured ) card. This allows the cardholder to establish a positive credit history over the duration. Based on good payment history over an extended duration, some banks will then issue the customer an unsecured VISA or MasterCard.
You can find several guaranteed approval (pre-approved) credit cards for bad credit. However, your application for this kind of cards is also analyzed by banks and in some situation the approval might be denied. Consider all the requirements carefully because rejections hurt your credit score.
And, of course, start working on rebuilding your credit history. There are several approaches you can find at http://www.credit-land.com/articles/articles_page_68600_1881780_12.php
Good luck!

Get a debit card instead. You give the bank a couple of hundred dollars, and they give you a card that looks like a credit card. Your limit is whatever your bank account is.

You get the benifit of having an open account, and you won't go into debt by paying outrageous fees!!

Good Luck!!

While there are credit cards that can help you reestablish credit, the easeist ones to get are secured cards. Granted, you would have to put up a deposit upfront to secure the same amount of the deposit in a line of credit, but this can actually work in your favor becuase YOU can control the credit line instead of the credit card company dictating how much credit you should get. Most start with a deposit as low as $200-300 and you can increase as you go. This can also be a way for you save money because the deposit is going into a savings account of some sort and it would be gaining interest while it's in there. As long as you don't max out the card, pay off in full what you charge every month on time, then usually after a year the card becomes unsecured and you get the deposit back. Would you rather apply for a card that would have a low credit limit, an annual fee and a high interest rate that you're not guaranteed to get versus a card that although you may have to put up a deposit, at least you KNOW that you'll be approved and you can control the credit line by adding to the deposit then after a year or so of excellent payment history you'll have an unsecured card with the limit YOU want and you would have had a nest egg saved up to boot!

It's easy to get store credit cards. Those were the first kind I had on my own (ie, not an "authorized user" under parents' card), and with those you can build credit by paying on time, etc, which will help you get major credit cards in the future.

visit your banking center.. a secured credit card would probably be best for someone with no credit. how this normally works is you deposit between 300-500 $ into a savings acct that the bank places a permanent hold on, allowing this amount to be used as your credit limit. until credit is established, then releasing the funds when card acct is closed.

Secured credit cards.

secured credit card. put down $500 in savings account and that will be your credit line until you establish a history

Your best bets are HSBC bank (search that on line.) Or Capital 1, both of these banks specialize in poor or bad credit cards. Just about anyone else will eat you alive with account set up fees, monthly maintenance fees, annual fees, fart fees and just about anything else they can come up with to screw you.

Expect an annual fee in the $50 - $75 area. You might get lucky and have good enough credit to get a low balance card without the annual fee.
