Hi there,
My credit was awful at one point my score was in the 400s. I couldn't get approved for anything. I couldn't get a car and couldn't event rent a place on my own, without a co-signer. I was desperate at one point and actually hired a company to help repair my credit however, all they did was try to talk me into paying each item off. As I was limited with cash I couldn't afford to pay everything off and some things weren't even mine. A mortgage lender referred me to an ebook that was actually written by professionals who know the credit industry inside out. I wasn't thrilled about getting an ebook as I don't spend much time reading so I was initially a little intimidated however, I quickly got through the manual and saw amazing results in 30 days my score was is in the 600s. This was enough motivation to stick to it. I learned a simple technique that helped me use todays technology to my advantage... I'm now in the 800s. Save your money. There is no way to clean bad credit. Derogatory items age off your credit report 7-1/2 years from date of first deficiency, whether paid, unpaid, or settled. There is no way other way to remove legitimate negative items.
Even if you do mange to get a legitimate derogatory item removed, it is likely to show up again when the creditor next updates to the credit bureaus or sell the debt to another collection agency.
You can try to negotiate settlement of old debt. It won't improve your score, but it will look better to creditors when they review your report.
You also need current open accounts to rebuild your credit. You may have to get a secured credit card. Use the card and pay in full every month. You need at least 24 months of consistent, on time payment history to even begin to improve your score. It takes years to overcome bad credit. There is no shortcut. |
