Lucky, lucky people! Since the age of 18 i have been in debt and now at 25 and with a family i am struggling to pay back what i owe. But one day i will and at least i've learnt my lesson!

At 18 i had no self-control and putting things on the 'never, never' seemed like a good idea!

Champagne tastes and lemonade pockets!

I am trying now even though my children are very small trying to instill in their minds the importance of saving. I wouldn't want them to go through what i did!

Personally i think the age limit should be increased to 21 for borrowings (other than mortgages).

Hi. I can honestly say I have never ever been overdrawn and hopefully never will be.

Ollie
Got to be honest yes & the charges were disgusting.Have now put authorised overdraft in place its a precaution.

Foxy
overdrafts are there for a reason, emergencies, and we can't predict an emergency. better to have an overdraft than go over your available funds and get charged for the pleasure.

i have never been overdrawn in my lifetime ..its all a matter of self control ..if i ever wanted something iwould save up for it ..trouble was ..when i had the money for it .and i had it in my hands ..i thought that saving for it was more fun than actually owning it .. funny old life!

Yep, only because I've never had a bank account.

I have been overdrawn in the past - but not anymore. I have an overdraft facility for emergencies (Only £100) I don't use it for recreation; just incase I fall short one month. This is one of my current accounts.

I also have a joint account with no overdraft facility.

You shouldn't be so judgemental - it's not down to peoples control some of the time. The cost of living in the UK compared to what people get paid is grossly disproportionate. Rent and taxes are high and so is the cost of living.

Overdrafts are there for a safety net for most so you don't go over your limit without the banks approval. Even though now you can reclaim it back.

www.moneysavingexpert.com (See unfair bank charges)

When I was setting up my business money was tight and I would go over my overdraft anbd the bank would charge me £35. Which I found out later - was illegal. Just last week I have recieved a cheque for £575.00!

But now I do keep my account in check - but thats just because I am lucky enough to afford doing so.

Take care matey p.s rememder my e-mail

No offence but what business is it of yours what I do with my money? Yes, I have an overdraft, yes, I have a credit card, I am aware of the interest that I will pay and it really doesn't bother me, you only live once and I would rather have something that I really really want now than have to wait for it.

Ginger - yes, this is a Question and Answer site. The last part of your 'question' ('if you can't afford it wait and save up') isn't a question, it is your opinion. I am simply responding by giving my opinion.

Carrot
i think im the opposite and cant rememebr i time where i havent been overdrawn or owed money since i was about 16. The downside of uni and lack of self control!!!

G!
I have never been overdrawn, but I have used some of my overdraft when payments and debits have not quiet gone in the right order.

I have not been charged for this so-called accidentally overdrawn thing that so many people claim. If they acctually paid attention to their money, they would not.
