Yes, but you will only be allowed to be an Authorized User. A legal adult can add you to their card and you will begin to have a credit history. The best way to do this is with a secured card so the person putting you on as the authorized user knows that you intened to be a good borrower.

blkrose65
no. you have to be at least 21 and have a job or a cosigner.

As far as I know, unless you are emancipated, you will not be allowed to sign contracts in most states. Call the banks and find out from them.

crystal
maybe a secured card, but that means you got to fork over the money first.

Unless you are emancipated, you will not be allowed to sign contracts in most states. In fact, I am not aware of any that you can. This means that you cannot sign the documents stating that you will pay back the credit card. However, that being said, you may be allowed to hold a retail card (individual store card) or to become an authorized user on your parents' or some other adult's card. If your parents' (or some other adult) would "cosign" on the card, you can have the benefits of a credit card, even though you can't sign the contract. Your parents (or other adult) would be responsible if you didn't pay.

Hope this helps.

do you have a job?

you'll have to look high and low, maybe your own bank would do it

otherwise, you'd need a joint account with a parent

Most likely not on your own, but through your parents. Meaning they can add you on to their account as a card holder. In order for your parents to do that, it would most likely be a card for emergency purposes only (by their standards). Also, your parents are the only one that knows you well, so it would be up to them if they can trust you or not.

i dont think so... im pretty sure you have to be an adult.
you may be able to have your name on your parents card though?
