Is this Credit fallout because of the borrowing to pay for the war.?
I am watching all the reasons for American and UK economic fallout and cant help but feel its a smokescreen . The war is costing billions and billions of dollars. Who is paying for this? Is this not the reason for the crisis or am I being too symplistic or is everyone else being naive?

Actually this goes back to 1999 when Bill Clinton asked Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae to loosen up their guideline's so more under privileged people could buy homes, he was told then that it would work as long as our economy was sound but that if it ever faulted the Government would have to step in and bail them out.

Ahh......people just love to blame Bush for our problems.

Why isn't Congress (under the control of the Dumbocrats) getting any blame? Why isn't the press examining the Senate banking committee? They have oversight over this!

But ok, lets blame Bush. But hey! Look at those gas prices! I guess Bush gets credit for dropping the price by 25%!!! They were $4 a gallon, now I'm paying $3.05! And they are still falling!

No, we are suffering in the UK same as all other countries. Just more greedy fat cats wanting too much on share deals.
It was just waiting to happen, but doesn't help hard working people does it.

it is because of greedy banks lending money to people who could not afford the repayments, but making millions of pounds of profit initially for them then paying ridiculous amounts in pay, pensions and massive amounts to large shareholders it will be interesting to see how much profits the banks make over the next five years or so to pay back the government loans they have received

people are just borowing too much money so they cant pay it back therefore the banks have no money and have to close down/rely on govt. funding

the collapse is because most of North America lives on credit. Every average person has a mortgage and/or a car bought on credit.

There is no one event which triggered it off, but a large combination of events. Some of which are....

1. War on Terrorism
2. Speculators / Investors
3. Banks them selves: They were giving out mortgages and selling the deeds to investors and then giving out mortgages again. This led to big book debts and little cash left when the investors pulled out of housing.

..and many other events..

It is everything, but mostly, the Bush admin. - They have been in denial for a long time! Everyone is scared right now to do anything. People have lost a lot of their retirement & there has been no control over a lot!
