Is this a high interest rate on credit?
16.24% variable APR, on an Amazon card.
Is this really high?
We have no credit cards but we are shopping around right now.
Thanks
Additional Details
Can you suggest a good card with low fixed APR?

heybulldog
any interest is a high rate.
stay away from credit cards. All they are is a crutch that will eventually break down on you.
Pay as you go. Live on less money than you make and you will have money.

Check out http://www.daveramsey.com and listen to his radio show. He has lots of great advice on money and debt. It doesn't cost you a dime to listen.

Why do you need a credit card?

16.24% is medium-high, but "variable" means they can change it whenever they want.

Almost all credit cards are "variable" since they are tied to the prime rate. . . unless you get a promotional fixed rate for a specific time period or purchase. If your credit is decent, you should be able to get a better rate, though. Look for something around 11-12%.

corporate overlords
this is a high rate but not unusual for someone beginning to build credit. make small purchases and pay off each month. after 6 months or so call company and ask for a lower rate. other companies will also offer cards that may have better rates. always pay at least your minimum payment. better to pay off each month, and be aware some cards come with an annual fee you must pay as well. some have no fee, shop around.

Volusian
This is not as high as many others that exceed 19 - 20% but I don't like the word 'variable' when it comes to credit cards...........or mortgages. To find a credit card best tailored to your monthly expenses and for rewards, go to the source link.

andy
16.24% is a decent, middle of the road rate. Depending on your credit, you make find one for around 12% or if you pay on time and are good with it they may lower it in the future.

badgley792
It is a decent rate. If you are looking for a decent card that I haven't had trouble with is Bank of America. I just had a transfer balance of 2.99% for a year. There was a 3% charge for doing it, but it totals out to less than I had on my other card. Just keep searching around.

Kerry
That seem really high.

four00exssu
if you have good credit you can definately do better than that. I went to bank of america and got one for 6% fixed, but my credit is awesome.
