It is real. A law was passed recently that entitles everyone to one free credit report per year from one of the three top reporting agencies. However, the catch is that you do not get your actual credit score....well, atleast not for free. |

For your information, this site was funded and creat4ed by the 3 credit reporting agencies specifically to comply with the recent law requiring free credit reports to consumers. In order to prevent a huge demand on their manpower, everything was automated as much as possible.

This site is maintained by the three credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax & Transunion. This was to comply with the Fair & Accurate Credit Transactions Act(FACTA) that was passed in 2004. It also applies to Chex Systems and SCAN which deal with banks and checking accounts. This is a step forward for the consumer to help unlock the mystery of the credit industry.
It is the ONLY, I repeat ONLY website where you should get your Free credit reports yearly. All other sites are trying to sell you some type of service or worse actually lower your credit score when they pull your credit.

The gov passed a law that says each of the 3 credit bureaus must allow each person to get one free copy of their credit report annually. That's 3 reports in a calendar year. You are only entitled to your report not your credit score. You can pay a fee to get the score added to the free report. |

it's real, I've used it. You are allowed a free credit report from all the 3 credit reporting agencies without having to enter a credit card. You don't have to get all of them at once either. |

exactly, you have to pay to check your credit, so partly scam, partly real because they really do tell you your credit score. |

It is real, I had it recommended to me by a USAA offical as a way of checking my credit report. It is required by law for a company to give you one free-be a year. |
