You have two choices left basically, Aqua or Vanquis.
Aqua is a bit better than Vanquis and will give you a card with a maximum limit of £250, but the interest is high (so is vanquis).
When I ran into problems years back though, Aqua gave me a card even though Capital One and Vanquis had declined me, and gave me a start on building my credit rating back up.
However, don't apply for more than 3 cards in 6 months, as it makes you look like you are desperate for money and so unlikely to be able to pay it back. More than the above and it will be an automatic decline from everyone. You have to be patient or you will just further damage your credit rating! |

If you don't have money, don't make it worse by taking on more credit! Capital One were chasing me to give out a card when I was unemployed, so if they turned you down I assume you have troubles.
Get down to a Citizen's Advice Bureau and get, well, advice! |

If Capital One said no you must have an adverse credit record. Surely you would be better off saving money credit cards aren't the answer they just create more problems. |

I take it that you have been refused on application to get a credit card rather than your card being declined. If you applied for a card and you know your credit rating is OK and this was declined,it could be because you are not on the voters list.I know this sounds daft,BUT,If you are not on the voters list it is a NO NO when applying for a card.Apparently they check the voters list and if you are not on it,you don't exist. |

Before making any further application. STRONGLY advised to check your credit report to avoid any damages to your credit score.
VANQUIS like some already have said...39% though....but free for 30 days.
Prepaid Card like ASP PLUS, BREAD Card are quite good solution and 100% ACCEPTANCE.

There are others who will give you a credit card with truly killer rates and penalties but how much debt or more debt do you wish to put on yourself?
If don't have mo dough, credit card or cards ain't your answer. Many of us run into similar problems but we must remember that credit card are for just in case. They are not and should not be used to live. I know because I got myself into a similar boat but, my friend, I am climbing out of that hole! It might take me a few more years to accomplish my goal. But, my friend, I am going to live debt free! How about you? You can too! We all can and we must! Credit problems are eating this country alive! It is time we all return to living within your means. Yes, it is easier said than done but we can do it. Need help? Contact me. I don't run any services, just some truly helpful experience. |

this i dont understand.
capital one said yes to me within a year of being discharged from my bankruptcy. Ok I had to pay £200 up front for a £200 limit but I got plastic. if they said no, are you sure you asked for the right card. |

Ye i think a prepaid MasterCard would be the solution for you as there is really 100% acceptance and you pretty much get the same features as a credit card but without all the risks of getting into more debts.
These companies do charge a monthly fee or pay per transaction fee but this is most of the time much less than banks' interests rates. |

I,m surprised capital one turned you down as they always say on their website they'll say yes to everyone. Vanquis and aqua are pretty good , high interest . Barclay's do a card for bad credit. Also littlewoods and solution finance do one. Good luck |

Perhaps try a prepaid debit card /credit card as they don't require credit history checks or a bank account?
Prepaid MasterCard's basically give you the same freedom (to spend virtually anywhere) and security (chip & pin, fraud guarantees etc.) that you get with a traditional credit card except you don't have to pay interest charges as you can only spend what you've "loaded" (i think that is the right term) onto the card.
I personally have a sterling card prepaid card because I'm travelling to amsterdam later this month and my visa electron/maestro cards really doesn't cut it abroad and i'd rather not be one of those tourists walking round with a wad of euros in my pocket waiting to be pick-pocketed
But I recommend you shop around on sites like which prepaid and compare prepaid and find the best deal for you. |

You need to work on your credit score.
Unless, like the lady above says if you are not on the electorol roll then you wont get loans or credits. |

A Prepaid debit card is the best option for UK people. I came across Sterling Card www.steringcard.co.uk, CashPlus www.mycashplus.co.uk, the new Sun www.thesunprepaid.co.uk , and the Virgin one.. Don't forget to read the Terms and Conditions as their offers vary from card to card. |
