wow some of those answers are ridiculous but i appreciate them... first of all i have a really good job thats not the prob... i got smashed with an unbelievably high expense this month... oh and for the dude who says save 20 bucks a month so i can pay my rent in 20 months, your a fool! |

Even if your landlord starts the eviction process, it can take several months before they actually kick you out. Speak to the landlord and tell him you can't pay this month, but next month you will pay the usual rent amount in addition, add a little extra to help pay the month you missed. At least that way he will get some money. |

I strongly suggest you to open a savings account and each month save 10% of your rent.
If your rent is $400 a month you save $40 a month.
Keep saving for 20 Months.
That way you will have enough to pay 2 months of rent when you are unemployed (Like you are now)
When you are unemployed (Like you are now) you take the first $400 and pay the rent and hopefully you will find a job before the next month is due and everything is back to normal. If you don't find a job you take the second $400 and pay the rent.
It is unlikely that you will stay unemployed for more than 2 months. (Illegal Aliens find a job within 48 hours of crossing the border)
This will help you the NEXT TIME.
I suggest you to place an ad in your local newspaper and start selling everything you have to pay as much as you can to your landlord. If you get more money than your current rent. Pay him in advance one month. |

Good luck! Talk with landlord. If you have a job, see if you can pay weekly to "catch" up. Get on a budget and pay your bills. Evictions take some time, but I'd try to work it out with landlord. Save 10% of your gross pay to yourself so you don't face this situation again. |

GO and talk to your landlord and explain the situation they may be able to give you some leeway but you will probably still have to pay something even if you can't pay all of it. |

First talk to you lanlord and explain what is going on. A lot of factors will contribute to his decision (i.e. have you been late, how long have you lived there, are you a good tenant....ect) he may alow you slide for a few days and let you pay later. Or ha could be a complete jerk. Depending on the state you live in, he will give you a 72 hour eviction notice, the day after your want was considered late. After that you still don't have to move. He will have to go to court and sue you to get you out. You will be served with papers to appear(summons and complaint) and after the whole porcess is done then the police can remove you from the porperty. I will take about a month for the whole porcess. But then he can sue you for the remaining months on the lease, court costs and attorney fees, and a butt load of other things. If i were you just talk to him first, and go from there. |

You need a landlord like me--a big pushover schmuck!! Don't know what to tell you. You must not have family to ask for the money or the credit to get a personal loan from a bank? I would look into public housing and government assistance if things are that bleak. I'm sorry that your life is sucking right now. Best of luck to you. |
