Yep. You can do everything right, but they do what's in their best interest. Play with snakes and you get bit. They got you. Period. Now cut up that card and never deal with credit card companies again.

Before you do a single thing listen to this man for free, on the radio or online, daily, and you will make the absolute wisest next move. This is like getting financial wisdom from Bill Gates, except this guy has a radio show. Listen to archives too.

This one audio clip alone changed my life(financial life). I still replay it. Half way down click on 'Listen to Dave'.

Before you do a single thing listen to Dave Ramsey for free, on the radio or online, daily, and you will make the absolute wisest next move. He's online too at daveramsey dot com. This is like getting financial wisdom from Bill Gates, except this guy has a radio show. Listen to archives too.

I probably can't help you much except to say that Chase totally ripped me off too. I had my credit card number stolen online so I cancelled my card and they got rid of all the fradulant charges. When they asked me if I wanted a new card I said no, I was sick of credit cards. When I logged onto my account it said balance zero, which made sense, so I forgot about them. MONTHS later they sent me notification that they were calling a collector on me because I hadn't paid my credit card. Came to find out they had set up a secret account with about 30 dollars owed them in my name. They never sent me a card or notification (or bills). There was no way for me to know about it and over the months they charged it 48 percent interest and huge late fess on top of late fees. I didn't know about the acct. until I recieved a threatening collection letter. I called until I got grey hair and then I gave in and just paid it. Chase is really evil. They won, I guess, but I was ready to call ABC or CBS. They can't do that to people. They are as bad as the ones who stole my credit card number in the first place, actually worse, because the ones that stole the number didn't cost me anything, but Chase's internal fraud did.

Have you tried talking with a Customer Service Rep?...If not get on that phone and ask to speak to a supervisor...ask nicely, if they dont give in to your demands be aggresive...I was in debt with that a few thousand dollars, i held off from speaking to them about this matter and stop paying my bills...after a few months they were ready to do things my way...I probably should of called as soon as i skipped a payment....but theyre willing to give in because they want your business...the point im getting at is, if all else fails threaten to cancel your card and that your going to inform all your friends of what they did....they'll give in, just you watch!

I hate to ask this question but "how can you prove that you mailed the check thirteen days before the due date?" A second question is, before you get mad at Chase, how do you know that the post office didn't delay getting your payment to the bank?

That all said ... what can you do now?

1. Contact their customer service line and NICELY explain what happened. Assuming that you have NEVER been late before AND have been a long term customer AND have no other credit issues, they'll likely give you a pass this one time.

2. If they refuse, let them know that you are going to move your account to another bank and then DO IT. There are a LOT of different credit card offers out there, take advantage of them.

Good luck!!

Get a copy of your cancelled check and see what date they cashed the check. Maybe the date stamp will support you.

You should remember that November and December are the busy post office season. Lots of possible post office delays.

Visit chase.com and get the 1-800 number and you can talk to a chase credit card rep. My best advice to you for the next time make your payment online its much faster.good luck

Hopefully you can get something worked out using the advise from the other respondents but i wanted to add that I think you should pay these bills online. You can schedule your payment date, amount, and save money by not sending checks in the mail.

they did the same thing to me a while back and they posted my payment a day after the due date with raised my APR from 12.9 to 29.9. I even have a reciept from the chase bank that i made the payment from 3 days in advance and the were talking to me about some crap that says any transactions made after 4pm will be processed the next day and my receipt says 3:20pm. I called in and told them to lower my interest bc i found another competitor with a lower rate and i have never been late. They lowered it finally as a contract, not a temporary upgrade.
