L.A. Fitness will not stop debiting my account even though I cancelled my membership.?
I have tried to cancel the credit card, but they won't do it unless I have 30 days without charges, and that won't happen because L.A. Fitness continues to debit it. What can i do?
1. Talk to the manager of L.A. Fitness and ask why you are still being billed even though you cancelled the membership. It may be the case that you were under a contract and cancelled too soon, so they're billing you for the rest of the contract anyway.
2. Ask the credit card company to contest the charges. They will temporarily credit the funds back to your account and submit an inquiry on your behalf. L.A. Fitness will have to prove that they are entitled to the funds and have been authorized by you to debit them from your account. In many cases, that's too much effort for the business so they credit the misappropriated funds without trying to fight you.

I have heard this before. Did you actually go in and get a letter to send L.A. corporate office?
Also did you call your creditor and dispute the charges? You may need to fax a copy of your cancellation letter or form from L.A. fitness to them.

Report your card as lost to the CC Company. They will stop the old card and send you a new one with a new number. Problem solved.

Tell your credit card company that these are unauthorized debits. LA Fitness has to be dealt with directly in writing and make sure you keep all copies of correspondence and the names of all you speak to about the situation. The BBB or consumer affairs can be of assistance in cases like this one. If you cancelled your membership, read the fine print of your contract and make sure you cancelled appropriately within the limited time frame these places usually give you. Do you have written evidence of your cancellation?
Worst case scenario, go to court. Good luck.

If you signed a contract, L.A. Fitness probably sold the it to a finance company.
The finance company paid L.A. Fitness for your membership, and now they will try to collect from you.
In other words, your membership is paid for. You still owe the finance company for the money the extended you when they bought the contract.
Health clubs are notorious for pulling this kind of scam on their customers.
