Not to be mean but, your kidding yourself. You just move the debt over on your house. You paid off nothing. Not to mention that with the lower stretched out payments you will pay more money in interest in the long run.

Paid charge-offs can stay on your credit report just like unpaid charge-offs for up to seven years....Any negotiation about how items should be reported on your credit files should take place BEFORE you give them your money and you should get a written agreement first.....Giving them the money first gives them zero incentive to change/remove the items on your credit files....

You can still ask at this point to have the item removed from your credit file and if you're really lucky they might remove it....but now that they have your money they don't have to.....

I have a theory that one of the reasons it takes so long and is sometimes so difficult to get errors removed from your credit report is because there are websites and their followers who encourage people to dispute EVERYTHING negative on their credit reports, even if they know it is legit.

The credit bureau personnel get flooded with these bogus disputes. So they have an automated system to process this flood. Real error disputes just get lost.

You can still go about the disputing and debt validation tactics, as well as sending out "goodwill" letters. Link below has some good information.

If you subscribe to the 3-in-1 monitoring, you can dispute any card that is paid or closed and has not yet been recorded as such by the creditor...they would have to dispute your dispute if they disagree...then you have a problem
