Loans for unemployed?
Are there any real companies out there that give loans to someone who is unemployed, becuase i really need a loan and im in full time college. Also i rent.

I know most of them wont consider it but ive found a few companies online, but they all ask me to give them some money so they can help me , which i think probably means they are a scam.

Not provident though as i need more money than that, they only loan up to £500 apparantly.

Well yeah if anyone of you know of a company that could help please let me know...thanks

Thanks for all the advice, reading that i think its probably best to just save up instead

ok, ive read the answers posted, and plainly middle england, and america havent got a clue.

goto the council house and ask for teh register of local credit unions...
then lend money, unsecured to people on the rock n roll.. (you have to be a member for 3 months before you get the loan) BUT, contrary to what some idiots think, they charge 1% a month... 12% a year...

i know, ive been using my credit union for 8 or 9 years... i want 3k, i just fill in a form on monday and get the dosh on thurday... i get 3 yrs to pay it back... making it in total 36% not bad when credit cards are around 33% per year...

borrow 3k, pay back 4k, or with a credit card, borrow 3K and pay back 6k in the same period... if not more....

Any companys that will lend you money at the moment will be just trying to get loads of money out of you, they know you won't be able to pay much back for a while so they set a huge APR for you to repay them. Please try not to borrow money, you will be on a slippery slope.

1 - if a company is asking for money up front, it is not legitimate

2 - in the current climate, anyone lending to the unemployed will be charging insane interest rates, shop around for the least ridiculous

3 - if you really need to borrow, investigate local credit unions

4 - don't do it! I'm in education too, it can be tight, but try and make time for a part time job, mine pays my food and beer tokens (just)!

you will get ripped off have you seen how much interest the dodgey companies charge. the banks won't lend you money because you are likely to get into difficulties.
But i just read your thing you are a student not unemployed you should be able to get a bank loan.

and you wonder why there is a credit crisis around the world

this is where loan sharks come in and charge you massive interest rates

save money each fortnight instead of getting a loan

I suppose it depends on the loan amount you need, you could probably apply for a credit card from your local bank, they gave me one once when I was a full time student, I am still cringing about how I struggled to pay it off though.
If you gained a credit card, you could transfer it to a 0% credit card deal and keep transferring until you have paid the amount off.

I would never advise any other option because similar to provident they charge in excess of 180% apr, which is ridiculous, and will get you further into debt.
Is their not family whom could help out in the short term with money, or if it is to purchase an item, then I now use the theory of if I cant afford it I will go without it, and save up even if it takes me yrs to get the item.

Good luck, please try to stay away from loan companies.
Another option is that the college may give you financial help at times of difficulty through the access to learning funds, which does not need to be repaid.
Also if you have a local credit union in your area, which is usually run by the local council, they have a money lending option, which is very low apr.

Just a few ideas.
Good luck
