i received it in the mail months ago, and i never authorized it.. just threw it away. Now when i try to apply for another one, it says i already have an account. Which i do, but i don't have that card, and it was NEVER activated. It was disposed of properly and i know no one has it.. So when i try to contact capital one to get another one shipped to me, every number and internet link asks for the 16 digit number of the card.. and if i say i don't have it, it just asks me again.. Something very similiar happened to my sister, I know this will sounds silly but it worked. When you call capital one and it starts asking you the automated questions just say some mumbo jumbo into the phone, it wont ber able to undertstand you and It will connect you to a live person, thats what my sister did and they straightened it out for her. |

Let them know that you didn't activate that card, it should be on files and i don't think is a problem. |

Call the number and then try hitting 0 when it asks for your card number and see if it connects you to someone. If not, try entering a fake CC # like 1111 1111 1111 1111 and see if it will offer you an option that lets you speak with a representative. |

Why are you applying for another credit card from Capital One? Apparently you just threw away the card for the first account. Do you not want the credit cards? Are you just trying to open accounts thinking that will raise your credit score?
If you don't activate a new credit card account, they will eventually close the account -- probably aftger 6 or 7 months. So opening accounts and not activating them really doesn't do your credit score any good. |

First, never just throw credit cards away. You should have contacted Capital One initially. Call them now and explain the situation. It may take a while to get to a live person. |

Get a Credit Card from a different. learn a lesson about this even if you don't want the card call them and tell them that you want to close the account. |

They have to have a way for someone whose card is lost or stolen and does not know the number to cancel the physical card (not necessarily the account) to prevent fraudulent use. Call them and report the original card lost; they will then either close the account or assign you a new account number for the existing account. |
