i was looking for a job in accounting on yahoo jobs. this one place responded and explained i was going to cash money orders for them and wire the money(after my 10%) to another United States location. the first 2 money orders i did that with on xmas eve just now came back as counterfiet. the problem is on new years eve i cashed 4 more for a grand total of $4,000. I know im stupid for being sucked into this, but what do it tell the bank tomorrow? (I still have a few days before the other $4000 in money orders come back, which i assume are counterfiet?) i was thinking for begging for a loan from them to cover the $4,000 worth of fake money orders, which i know theyll say i have to pay, but that would be better than that $ in overdraft. I have the title to my paid off truck as collaterall, but thats about it. I KNOW IT WAS STUPID, but its too late for that now. Assuming im honest with the bank as to what happened, what do u think they will do? |

You can file a police report, get the law involved. Yes you were stupid. No legit business needs you to cash money orders for them then WiRE TRANSFER the money.
my advice is to contact the cops, tell the bank what is going on, and then transfer more money, I'm sure they will be able to find out where the money is being picked up and they can get arrested on the spot. |

Banks have teams in place to deal with this sort of thing.
phone them now and explain.......... you prob get your money back once they have investigated it but they might also closeyou down with them, still...... better than being out of pocket. |

your mistakes wont let you off the hook. Your gonna have to pay, its possible they can press charges and the FBI can be knocking on your door. You didnt think to yourself, "if these money orders are legit then why am i getting paid to cash them" Sometimes greed can cause a person to make bad choices. |

You need to take all that information to the postal service and file a complaint. It would not hurt to contact the FBI if you are in the US or the Federal trade commission.
I don't know what the bank will say, because as you already know, they are going to expect you to repay the money and unless it is a small time bank, they may not really care. I would see if I can talk to one of the 'higher' ups like the president of the bank, not just a teller.
~good luck and I am very sorry to hear this happened, but if you DON'T report it with all the facts and information you may have, someone else is going to get burned too.

Yes, you are responsible for paying the money back, but please report this to the agencies suggested. In order to be charged by the FBI, you HAVE TO HAVE KNOWN they were frauds before you cashed them...

Contact the US Attorneys office in your state and file a complaint for fraud. If your bank has a fraud dept, contact them also. Best of Luck |

You'll have to either sell belongings, borrow from a relative, or earn extra cash fast so you're 4,000 doesn't become 10,000 plus interest. Also, please tell the police and help them ruin the scumbags behind this scam. |

Boy, you really got screwed. Tell the bank the truth, you thought you were part of a legitimate business adventure and were taken advantage of. The bank will probably call the FBI if the transactions were interstate so be sure you tell the truth about the whole affair ,or, you could end up in a Federal Penitentiary. |

You need to contact your local police (in person if possible) NOW not tommorrow NOW. You need to have copies ready of all correspondence you made with these people, as well as western union reciepts etc. You must also call the bank. Hopefully because you initiate contact with the police they will not press charges against you, but it is still possible, so at the very least have in your possession the number of a bondsman and attorney.You will also have to pay all the money back. The person you wired money to will never be caught sorry to say, and 99% they were not really in america. good luck in this, and email me if you need more help |

Counterfeit things people can go to prison for. You're doing the right thing by telling them about it so they won't press charges and pay the money back, pay something back every month until it's paid off. I don't think you were stupid. If you didn't know, you didn't know. |
