Fukken CC companies make me sick! They have sculpted society to be in debt.
This would be funny... Get the card, use it, make all your payments on time... Build up the credit line for a year or two, then call some one like NBC Dateline, or 20/20...A 12-13 y/o with a 100k line of credit should make for a good story! |

Since they did it, obviously they can do it. However, if you or your child use the credit line, that is fraud and you can go to prison and face serious fines. |

Immediately get your child's credit report from all 3 bureaus and put a credit gard on it against unauthorized use. Some noncustodial (and custodial) parents will use their child's SSN to get a credit card to buy all kinds of things after their own credit is screwed up. And the SSN can be obtained by an employee at the doctor's office, Medicaid office or a zillion other places. Sometimes the child doesn't find out until they apply to college that their credit has been ruined. |

i would check to make sure his social security number was not
compromised by a counterfeiter and is trying to use his number to set up bogus accounts, happens every day. then write the
company to opt out of further offers for credit right away. |

Credit card companies are out of control.
Your 11 year old is on a mailing list somewhere. It is only an offer for credit. Don't sign anything, I would put it in their return envelope with a huge note that this person is a minor and to remove from all mailing lists.

Hehe. Ive seen a three year old get approved for a 5,000 dollar credit line. You can do just about anything in todays world. But Im sure if you call them and tell them (and also tell the media..they love this kind of thing) that they just gave an 11 year old credit, they will fix that asap. They can do that, but anyone under the age of 14 cant actually bind themselves to any contract...so your kid could say up yours to chase if (s)he maxed out the card and didnt feel like paying. |

I'm not sure if they can or not, but get this my father in law who passed away was offered a credit card 15yrs later after his death and it was sent to my house in a different state then where he died, i would call them and explain to them that they have sent your minor child a credit card and most times they will remove his name from the mailing list, if your wondering how he may have been put on their list, think have you ever ordered any magazines that have your sons name on them, this is the most common way that they get his name, best of luck to you |

Sure they can. He can also sign up for it. They can also approve it. He can even use it without ever having to pay for it, as it is not legal for an 11 year old to sign a legal contract. |
