The best way I found was going through my personal bank. That way you are a face and not a number. Plus your bank knows your banking history better and will get you a better rate and credit limit. I was able to get my first credit card from my bank at 19 with 8.99% fixed interest rate. If you can't/don't want to do that, I would suggest Washington Mutual's credit card. My fiance was able to get that card with not the best credit score in the world. Good luck, and remember, don't spend money you don't have!!! |

Although these offers tend to have higher interest rates (and additional fees) when compared to 'standard' credit cards, they'll give you the opportunity to prove your credit worthiness and build your credit score over time. Eventually, with regular on-time payments-- you'll be able to qualify for better offers with lower APRs and less fees. But for now, these are your options...

You may need a secured credit card depending on the few problems you had a couple years ago. A secured credit line is where you pay a deposit before you are given the card. It is a great way for anyone who has had past problems to begin building good credit. Check out the website below for more credit information. |
