Right now, if you still owe money on the car, the car belongs to the bank and not you. However if you want to sell the car, you need to find out exactly what the pay off amount is on the loan and let the bank know you are looking to sell the car.
When you receive the money for selling the car, you will need to pay off the bank and they will release the lein on the title so it can be sent to the new owners.
Another option would be to have the balance of the loan be applied and added onto a new loan for another car but it is much better to pay this loan off entirely and get a new one than to add onto an exsisting one.
Good luck |

of course but remember than the lender has a lean against the car and to get it released you have to pay in full -- otherwise the new owner can not get a title. works the same if you trade up for a new car and your old car is not paid off. |

you can sell it to a dealer and they will payoff the loan (if you're not "upside down") or you could contact the lender and find out how to go about selling and then paying off remaining loan. |

If a bank has the title to your car you are not allowed to make ANY changes until the loan is paid off.
I have a mispelling of a name on a title and just wanted to get it fixed, it literally had just one extra letter in the name. But they will not even change that until they bank releases the title.
If you sell the car to your partner and pay off the loan, the bank will then release the title and you can transfer it into their name. If you sell it for less than the loan you will have to come up with the difference for the bank to release the title. |

It's up to you. But better not to do it. |

When you have something on HP you have to notify the HP company of your intention to sell and get settlement figure. If you were to sell it to a garage, the garage would settle the outstanding debt. If you are intending to sell the car to your partner in order to avoid paying the rest, the same will still apply. There is no way to avoid paying the debt however and yes, you will be found out. |

No, it's not yours yet! |

Now for the correct answer.
Yes you can sell your car, but you must make arrangements with your lender to make the payoff as soon as you sell it so they can mail you a lien release.
I have done this several times. |

it all depends if the car was purchased on hire purchase then the car is not yours to sell in fact the hire purchase company own it.
if you bought on a credit sale agreement then you can because the car is yours to sell. |

It depends on the finance. If the car is on HP then it is not yours until the final payment is made. If you sell it, the buyer should pay the owner, not you, and you will have to make good any shortage at once. If the car is on a loan only, then it is yours to do as you like, but YOU will still be liable for the finance, not the buyer. Many loan agreements have clauses requiring settlement if the goods leave your control. You need to read the terms & conditions. |

no, whoever buys it will do a hp check and find out there's finance already on it. |
