My credit card got overpaid and I need to get my money back?
By some clerical error one of my credit cards got overpaid by a thousand dollars! I ended up way overdrawn on my account because of this and my bank is assessing me a lot of fees, plus my other bills haven't been paid because of this. I already called the credit card company and they were willing to refund my money but it would take two weeks to a month before I would receive anything.
My bank is also trying to force the credit card company to refund me my money but even that will take a while. I have bills to pay and it honestly seems as if the credit card company are dragging their feet trying to give me back my money(The customer service rep told me that they had to take time to process everything, but do they really need that much time?). I am becoming very frustrated and angry and I need advice on how to force them to give me my money back now. Please help
Additional Details
Thanks to all who have answered so far. I'm adding a few more details, I can't pay my bills with the card because it is a store card, the payment was already processed and the company had already assured me they definitely have the money. I'm just starting a career as an enlisted personnel in the military and I honestly can't afford to wait around for the processing, I just don't get paid enough and I have no one who can loan me money at this time. What makes this situation even more aggravating is that, my credit limit on the card is not even $1000 dollars, but not only did I pay the final balance I also ended up paying twice the credit limit as well.

It's sounds like you are doing all the right things, I would call the credit card company everyday to check on the status of the claim. Perhaps I would call them twice a day. Good luck.

OK yeah well whatever

Perhaps some of your bills can be paid with that credit card? If they send you your $1000 back, you'll have that to pay the credit card bill when it comes. In our city, you can pay utilities, cable and other bills with a cc if you want, so maybe that's an option.

The reason it takes so long is because it is a large dollar amount. Unfortunately, many people will pay with a bad check and then call and get money sent to them so they can use it until everything catches up with them. This is a form of kiting and is illegal. Due to this the banks hold the check until they are sure it will clear. Then there is the actual processing time after that. Sorry, I know it sucks. Call the credit card company and ask if they can do a cash balance transfer into your checking account to hold you over. This still isn't instant but may be quicker than waiting for the refund.

By the way, if the refunds are high enough, banks also have to go through checks with the Pariot Act. This can also be a sign of money laundering. Banks get huge fines if it is discovered that they knowingly allowed this to happen, so everything right now is legally scrutinized.

If you cant use the overpayment credit to pay other bills, then you are at the mercy of the credit card company. The below is for the federal trade commission where you may be able to file a complaint. But that is all I have for you.
Some companies take up to 60 days to process overpayment or credit balances.

Ask you bank for a small loan or family or friends. It takes time to get a refund for an over paid credit card, I have over paid them a few times then not used them again and after a couple of months they refund the excess.

First before they give you a refund, they're going to wait for the money to toally clear. It does take time, and honestly two weeks isn't a long amount of time for them to process the payment, process a refund, cut you a check, and mail it. You can't force them to give you the money back now, so just hang tight.

you really can not do anything they are going to take there sweet time.

Call the credit card company and ask to speak with a manager.

Tell them you need your money back, and they will issue you a check.

In the meantime, ask your bank to waive any fees, and 'forgive' you. Tell the bank manager what is going on.

I would put a freeze on your credit card spending until this gets resolved, or ask someone to borrow money to pay your bank back until you get your credit card money back.
