Have you been anywhere and used your card that aroused any suspicions? The fact that they have your PIN number suggests a few things:-
1. You know them and they know you well.
2. Your card has been skimmed (and they somehow got hold of your PIN too)
3. You withdrew the cash and are trying to scam the card company (and no I'm not calling you anything). |

They have your PIN? I can only assume you had it in your purse and had it marked as such. Not a good idea, but that's not the problem now. You are probably only liable for the first $100 or so after you call the card company. Pay the money and call it an inexpensive lesson. |

You are in a no win situation I'm afraid babe.
Ask for their compromise, show them police statement, this proves your innocence, and then tell them you are not trying to evade paying them, but can you need some repayment plan that you can easily afford. They should help you in this.

You are aware there are WIRELESS VIDEO CAMERAS that can record your PIN from a mile away, right?
Also con artists can memorize your pin when they pretend they are waiting for you to use the ATM.
The bank is not going to pay for this.
I suggest you to pay them as soon as possible. |

If you reported your card as stolen as soon as you were aware of it, then quote the Police Incident number as a reference. If your PIN number was with the card, I would not say that - say that they must have guessed it. |

File a Regulation E claim with your bank, regarding the fraudulent charges. This way, you will get your money back in 10 days while the bank does the investigation. |

Your credit card company must know which ATM was used and when. Some machines have a security camera, so get back to the credit card company and ask to see the footage if it exists; that way you'll be able to see if you recognise the person who used your card.
If your card was physically stolen and used in a machine then the person must also have had your pin number. So if you left it in your purse with the card there's nothing you can do, you are liable. You must keep the number separate and hidden.
One way to hide your pin is to store it within a phone number for a person that you know doesn't exist, you have to make the name ans number look believable in case your diary gets stolen too.
Its possible that someone stood behind you in a shop and saw your pin, then mugged you; if thats the case I don't know if you'd have torepay the money. |

Contact the bank issuing the card and file a fraud report, which must be reported to the police. The fact that they used your PIN has nothing to do with it. Criminals can get PIN numbers by simply sitting in parking lots with binoculars and writing down numers as customers use their cards, following the customer, stealing the card, and there you go. Contact your county police department and report the incident as well. |
