I take it you have unpaid debts still on your record? How old?

If they are getting pretty old, like over 3 or 4 years old, try negotiating a settlement with the creditors.

Really, the only way to fix your credit is to resolve it with the creditors, or wait until everything drops off the reports.

If you need credit counseling, go to the National Foundation of Credit Counseling (linked below) and get a referral for a local credit counselor who can help guide you.

Pay your bills on time. If you don't have one, get ONE credit card. Buy a pair of socks with it each month and make sure you pay the bill (again, on time).
Unfortunately, battered credit takes time to repair. Your best course of action is to wait it out.

Good luck!

The fist thing would be to try to pay off and clear off any bad debts you have.
Then, do not make any inquires for at least a year.

Never pay money for these type of things. Its nothing but a rip off. Get a secured credit card and start paying on that each month. Do you have any credit cards now? Just make sure to pay everything on time. If you have things in collections you can contact the creditor (by mail only) and see what you can do to pay and delete which means you would pay the debt and they would delete from your credit report. Get everything in writing tho before you pay anything and only pay with a money order.

I wanna be a beach bum
you can't really pay off the credit people to get your credit up. that is a myth. it takes a long time to repair bad credit. the only way to do it is to pay your bills on time consistently. every time you are a couple of days late with a bill it gets recorded and your credit rating drops. it stays on record for around 7 years.

Heavenly
Pay each lender little by little and make arrangements with them to correct your past due flags.

You shouldn't have to pay someone to fix your credit. Sometimes, paying in order to help pay bills by limiting fees and lowering interest rates is sometime needed though, such as a credit counseling service. The main thing to reestablishing credit is time. It takes several months to several years of paying your bills on time and with at least the minimum payment to look like you're becoming responsible with credit again. Good luck.

To Repair credit score
Your credit score is based mostly on:

1. Length of credit history
2. Payment history.
3. Ratio of credit used to available credit.
4. Number of credit inquiries you authorized.

If you cancel your card, you'll be hurting your credit ratio. (#3).

You want to deliberately keep your oldest credit card open, even if you never use it.

You want to always pay the minimums of each loan on time every month.

You want to keep your available credit high, but actually only have balances equalinig 25% or less.

You want to keep your credit inquiries to a minimum. Try for no more than 3 or 4 per year for any type of loans.

You do these things and your credit score will quickly soar into the 700s.

There in NO WAY to erase bad accounts from your credit report, even of you start paying they will remain as bad on your credit, instead keep paying your current debs on time and get a secured card and pay it on time it is going to take some time to get your credit up but you will
