Years ago I went to Consumer Credit Counseling. It really helped. On some of the cards, they were able to get rid of all of the interest charges while others were cut in half. I think only one , Sears, did not budge at all. I was completely debt free after finishing the program and within a few years had really good credit again.

Have you tried searching on the net. There are a lot of lenders advertising here and you may find one that suits your circumstances. You might be looking at a consolidation loan.

My Husband and I were in the same boat a couple years ago. What we did was ask my parents to co-sign for a 100% loan, so we didn't need any money down. And our mortgage was the same as what rent would have been. Still now we have a strict budget. I know every penny that we earn and keep a log of everything we spend. So I know exactly how much is left at the end of the month. And it's never much. Only one person should handle the finances. If you both have your hands in the spending whether it be bills or occasional take-outs for lunch, it's going to be hard to keep track of the money thats being spent. I know from experience. Keeping an Expensure sheet every month seems complicated but it's really not and it helps out alot. You can see just from the info on the sheet, where all the money is going and where it needs to go. We are now able to put down a couple hundred dollars on to our credit cards and are paying them off. Now what you can do to establish credit so that you can become better qualified for a loan is of course always pay your bills on time. Open an account with a small amount like at a jewerly store where you can get small payments. This will help to establish credit. Also you can try to open an account at sears for something like a fridge or stove or even a new tv and pay it off with just a couple of payments. Now if it's a house your looking for try looking for houses that need work. They are a little less expensive. Another thing never pay full price. Make an offer. The market is pretty slow right now. If you notice a house has been on the market for more then 6 months, the sellers are getting kind of despret and are willing to take lower offers. If you already have a house and are having trouble consider maybe a second job. Things can be pretty taugh when you have so many house bills and then home insurance, taxes, and other things that we often forget about. Try finding out all the different things you can write off on your taxes. So many of us don't realize how much we can write off. I would talk to an accountant (someone you know if possible) and tell them what you do for a living and ask them what all you can write off. My husband occasionally works out of our home office for work and we're able to write off printing paper, cartridges, our DSL service, and 1/3 of our electric and phone bills. We purchased a computer last year, we wrote that off. If you've done work to your house save your receipts and write it off. Your home beleive it or not is an investment. You might be able to get a good amount of cash back. I hope I helped. I wasn't to sure on exactly what you needed help on your details were limited. Go to www.betterbudgeting.com/budgetformsfree and print one off.

I know the feeling my husband and I are in the same boat. Do you own or have any equity in your home?? If not do you won a car that you can re-finance????? If not call all your creditors and tell them what you can pay, be honest if they agree(which they will) pay it every month even if its 1 dollar. They can not send you to further collection if you agree on a payment... They really want to hear from you. I have been so depressed as we are in the same boat you are, but, most of the country is......they will listen and offer solutions. We cut up our credit cards after settling with a payment its called a charge off but it does not hurt your credit...at least it didn't show up on ours.........Dave Ramsey financial freedom is aw some check out his web site...Good Luck and God Bless.......

I know this can be an incredibly stressful situation. My heart goes out to you.

The first thing you can do is sit down with your husband and write out a budget. Look through the budget and see if there is ANYTHING you can cut (cable tv, etc.). My husband and I went through this recently, and were shocked at how much we were able to squeeze out of our budget. It's made a huge difference.

Also, check out www.daveramsey.com. Dave Ramsey is a personal finance guru, who provides a really good plan for getting yourself out of debt, saving for the things you need to save for, and on your way to building wealth. He's been through losing everything and rebuilding, so what he talks about is from his own personal experience. He's written a book called The Total Money Makeover which was awesome. I highly recommend it from your local library.

More debt is the last thing you should be looking for in your position. It is time for you to consolidate. Start living like our parents did. Saving the dimes so the dollars can look after themselves!

I would expect on your good incomes that you will have your life back on track in 12 months if you just tighten your belts and live with what you need and not what you want.
