He has bounced about 5 checks and has no money to put in the bank to cover what he has written + fees and such. He has no job, so no way to pay them back and none of the family is willing to loan him the money as he never pays anyone back. In total (family + the bank) he is in debt to about the total of about 2,000 dollars.
My question is what will the bank do? Do they ride it off as a bad debt (charge off) and not go after him? Will they file a judgment against him? Will they just not let him open another account there or anywhere else or do they do nothing? I am really hoping that someone does something as he has dropped out of school owes too much money to too many people and everyone is always bailing him out of one thing or another and they just add it to the money that he owes to whoever bails him out?
And he says he is a man! Blech!

Bad checks are bad news....Writing a bad check is a crime in most states. It's impossible to tell what the bank or payees' will do....He will for sure end up in the Checksys database..which is the national bad check database...This makes getting a checking account VERY difficult. |

The bank will just reject the checks, and return them unpaid to the people he wrote the checks to. The bank isn't out anything, and won't do anything, other than put him on a list so he won't be able to get an account with them or anyone else.
But the people he wrote them to can go to the police - it's illegal to knowingly write a check without funds in the account to cover it. He will very possibly be arrested. Might be a good thing if he is. |

The bank may report him the ChexSystem. He would be unable to open another bank account at a ChexSystem bank for another five years. About 80% of all banks subscribe to ChexSystem.
ChexSystem is also a collection agency. They will attempt to collect the overdue fees and penalties from him. If he does not pay, he will be reported to Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. They could also take him to court and get a judgment against him.
As for the hot checks. Writing a hot check is a crime. Whoever he wrote the checks to might turn him over to the District Attorney. Depending on the amounts of the checks, the DIstrict Attorney may or may not choose to prosecute. |

It all depends on the amount of the checks. Chances are his account will be closed, he cannot open an account anywhere and a warrant will go out for his arrest since he wrote bad checks. |

For an amount that large they may take him to court but for sure they will put him on check systems. Which is like credit report for bank accounts. My wife over drew her account by .01 yes 1 cent in her home town moved to college and never knew she over drew the account they closed it out and put her on check systems. She did not know until she closed out her account then moved home and could not open a bank account. She had to wait like 6 years she had to go the check cashing places. She could not even open a joint account with me. She had to sign her checks to me and cash them and it was a big hassle. Even after we paid the 30.01 to the bank .01 plus the fees. She was on there until the time frame came off.
For an amount this big though they may take him to court and when and if he gets a job he will have to pay the bank back |

i did the same thing except a better version, and i got charged with a felony of theft by deception. but the court dropped to a misdeamenor but he could be in huge trouble. |

they will eventually get there money.. trust me and they will take his credit with it.. they will send it to collections or have a judge award a judment and have it garnished out of future checks, and also wright it off as a loss |
