18 years of age. I commend you for wanting to begin your credit history now, so that you'll more likely be approved for a car or a house. Just because you get a credit card, doesn't mean that you'll get into debt - as long as you are responsible with it. If you use it, you must pay it off in full every month and on time. If you think you won't, then don't charge. |

When you're 18 is when you are legally able to get a credit card. The question is, why do you want one so badly? You have to make payments every month and if you don't pay the balance in full you pay interest on the purchase.
If you want one to build your credit by buying things and paying it off in full that's awesome. If you want one so you can buy things you can't afford, that's a terrible idea. |

18 and you have a job that will support the money that you spend on it. |

18 or 21, not sure what it is for USA.
Anyways, you have to be responsible enough to pay for your bills at the end of the month, and even if you do want one, it doesnt mean you will be approved for one. |

At 18, you are of age.
I have to say though, you should think long and hard before you do this. It's very very easy to run up a HUGE credit card tab in a very short period of time. You could be a decade or more paying it off. One of my little brothers did exactly this. He got himself a credit card Freshman year of college, and everytime he maxed it, they "generously" offered to increase his credit line. In 3 years he racked up nearly $50, 000 of debt.
This was 7 years ago, and he's still trying to pay it off. They're having his pay garnished, and he had his car repossessed because he had nothing left to pay the car note. He lives in a crummy apartment in a bad part of town because that's all he can afford.
Be very careful with this. I find it incredible that we in this country don't trust people to drink responsibility until age 21, but will hand them a credit card at age 18. |

18, and then you have to apply and be approved. To be approved you'll need a job with steady income. |

18 is the age you are legally allowed to enter into a contract of any type (credit card, loans, cell phone service) |

What is your hurry to get into debt. If I were you, I would learn to delay gratifcation. It is something that will save a lot of money down the road. |

You must be at least 18 years old, be employed and have sufficient income to support your credit limit, have checking & savings accounts (you must be 18 to open your own bank accounts), and you need good credit. |
