Auto finance is what I do for a living and unless he makes at least 12-payments it will not help him at all.
Credit scores are 90% based on your last 24-months of activity so to get the maximum affect he really needs to make 24-payments on time. |

It will help his credit. It would, probably, help him even more if he kept the loan for a longer duration, as longevity in payment history is a big factor in ones credit score. In this case, it will only hurt him if he fails to meet his monthly obligation. |

It will do nothing for his credit rating if you pay it off in 8 months. You should make at least 18 payments (a year and a half) before paying it off, if you want it to reflect good. |

It may not help his fico score worship. But, it will help his cash flow. Pay it off and save the interest.
No payments = cash in the bank. |

Won't help much, won't hurt at all! The only thing that will hurt him is not paying on time. So as long as he pays it off sometime with in the 48 months, his credit is safe. |

Paying off a loan early NEVER, I repeat NEVER hurts your credit rating. What hurts is when you pay late, or skip payment for whatever reasons. |
