The same thing happend to my parents. They sold the house when the market was at it's peak and payed off debts. We have no mortgage now and are living happily in a rented house. |

Visit your local Consumer Credit Counselor - look in the yellow pages. They are free and can help you devise a plan for getting back on your fee. Good luck. |

Cut back, cut back, cut back. First of all, why are you in such bad debt? Purchases? If you have anything to sell (big house, big tv, anything really), then sign onto Craigslist.org and start selling it to buy older less expensive things and start paying down the credit cards. If you're in a big house then it's time to downsize - it doesn't have to be permanent!! If you need to downsize from a big house to a two bedroom apartment then it's not going to kill you. Get rid of cell phones and cablevision. Use the library to rent videos from for free (they actually have a pretty decent selection). If you and your wife don't both work then it's time both of you do, even if she just gets a part time job in the evenings, or better yet, a transcriptionist job working from home.
Cut up the credit cards. There is absolutely no excuse for paying out more than you're bringing in.
Come up with a budget and stick to it. It's going to take time, but you can do it. |

Well does your wife work? If not have her try and get a job at least a part time job? And how bad is it? I am sure if you can talk to a credit counseler they can try and help. Also you may have to sell your house if you own and then rent, sell a car if you have 2. Have you ever watched Big Spender on A&E. He is hard and tough with people...but he has good advice. Good Luck to you! |

It really sucks but you may have to cut off cable, phone, Internet service and little necessities like that until you can get ahead. Talk to a credit counselor. You may also have to get a second job if you don't already have one. |

how did your kids get into debt? Start off by giving up your Internet services, that will give you about $30.00 extra a month to pay your bills. Then cut all inessentials from your life and live within your means. or you can do what I did. I prayed .... and God sent me $13.000 in back wages from a job I left 15 years ago. Through it all trust in God, he can help you but you have to be willing to live within your means and help yourself. |

There are many Debt Consolidation agencies that are very good at helping you get out of debt. (Credit guard of america for instance)
Also Bankruptcy is another option... it allows you have a fresh start. I recently had to take this option after receiving a shady lawsuit.
Check your options, dont just sit back and do nothing... the creditors calls will eventually become court papers |
