My wife and I are 45k in credit card debt, whats our best options to take care of this debt.?

1. Cut up the credit cards. Create no more debt.
2. Get a 1000 dollars into an emergency fund.
3. Get on a written budget. Give every dollar a name and a mission.
4. List your debts smallest to largest. Pay the minimums on everything except the smallest. Hit that one hard. Once it's paid off use the money you were paying on the smallest on plus the minimum on the second to pay the second. Work this debt snowball through all your debt.
5. Sell stuff.
6. Get a second job.
7. Don't borrow money to pay this off. That's going into debt to pay off debt. That makes no sense. You're not paying off the debt. You're just moving it.

someone or someone's need to get a second job. if you have no children you both get second jobs. pay off the smallest and work from there. always applying the money saved into the largest debt. then work for a few months and build up a savings. then quit your second jobs one by one so you learn how not to live on so much money. my debt has never been that high but i did pay off 11,000 in debt this year. good luck.

Take out a loan with a low interest rate and transfer it over , so you can make one payment.

Crazy Cat Lady >^..^<
The same way you got into debt but reverse..instead of putting $ 500.00 on a credit Card for an impulse buy ,put that money into paying off the debt.I would get a second job..the both of you as I noticed you said "my wife and I" .With both of you working and selling off some of the thing you no longer need it should take no time at all in one year you should have it down by over half.

Credit card debt is not deductible for tax purposes. If you have sufficient equity in your home, you can take out a HELOC and pay off the CC debt; then you work down the HELOC. HELOC interest is tax-deductible.

One very important area is your self discipline. DO NOT go back to your old spending ways. You must change your outlook and your lifestyle to remain out of debt.

Most people, when they start making progress on repaying their debt, get this feeling of "we're getting better", then go out and spend to "celebrate", and "give themselves a break".

Well, those celebrations and breaks will really break you. Do not deviate from your goal of paying down debt. If you really wnat to be debt-free, you must live within your means. Spend less than you earn.

DO NOT splurge, no matter what the ads and infomercials say you deserve.

Get TWO jobs and pay down the debt while reduing your current expenditures.

It's time to start moonlighting to clean up the hot mess y'all created.

Doesn't sound good... why are you so far in debt to credit cards? While I realize sometimes it can't be helped or there is a problem beyond your control, your only hope if you can't pay is bankruptcy.

Waiting and Wishing
Cut up the cards.
Get second jobs.
Apply for a home equity loan if you can.
