Need advice regarding wedding budget please?
I am so scared about wedding budget...please help me!?
I have 8 more months until the wedding...Feb 2011. This is the expenses we have left.

Expenses:

DJ 530
Catering 1500
photographer is 1150. He said we can wait to pay him...plus we will probably get our tax returns right around when we get married so we can use our tax returns to pay for the photographer. My fiance and I usually get a thousand for tax return so my fiance and me will each get 2 thousand for tax return maybe?

My fiance's wedding band: 1000
Alterations ? (the dress fits me but it needs hemmed and a bustle)
Hair/makeup/nails ??? I don't know but I want a spa to do this
Invitations $200? (we are getting a deal from a tux company who also does invitations)
Rehearsal Dinner (Godfather's pizza delivered to room in church after rehearsal)...idk how much it will cost
Decorations for rehearsal dinner in church ??
Florist $500? She said it would be around that

I get paid around 600 a month (with all bills already taken out..not including gas.)

How do I budget for this? Help! My fiance is also having problems because he is already making payments on car, my ring, and the tv.

You can't afford a big wedding.Don't start your married lives in debt.
Instead, consider getting married at the court house. Have a simple get-together for close friends and relatives only after the ceremony.
Save up, renew your wedding vows, and then throw a big bash for everyone on your 5th anniversary.

Good luck

Add up all the cost you are going to have to pay. Divide by the number of months until the bill is due.
Save that much each month.
(You really spent 1000 on the GUY'S ring?)

First, do not go into debt for the wedding. Don't take out any loans or max out credit cards. It's a really bad way to start a marriage with a bunch of debt for a big wedding.

Second, rethink the wedding plans for something less expensive. It looks like you are already using some alternatives to cut costs but look for more. You really cannot afford a big fancy wedding.

I don't see anything for the reception hall. Is that included with the catering price? The reception hall can be a very expensive item. Consider a smaller reception. Maybe your church has facilities. Instead of food and drink, go with just cake and punch. Or if you really want to serve food, have a buffet with dishes you and family members prepared. Forget the alcohol and the DJ. If you want to dance and have music, get a family member or friend to do it.

Instead of having live flowers, think about making your own arrangements and bouquets with silk flowers. It's possible to have lovely arrangements and you get to keep them.

While I think a professional photographer is money well spent, you may want to look for a smaller wedding picture package -- fewer poses and less pics for the album. Have family and friends take lots of pics.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a nice wedding. It's the marriage that is most important, not the party.

By the way, you should consider changing your withholding so that less is taken out of your paycheck. You'll get a smaller tax refund but you'll have more in each paycheck to spend now. There is no sense to letting the government have an interest free loan. A $1K refund could be $90 more per month in your pocket now.
