Amber | Need nose surgery asap... awful credit. can i get a medical loan with a cosigner? |
Ok, i have a very severe deviated nasal septum. my nose is crooked and it has gotten to the point where my throat is so torn up (because i can't breathe through my nose at night) that I continually keep losing my voice so i have to keep calling off work. it is just real bad and my doctor suggested i get it ASAP.
also.. it is pretty expensive... since it is so severe it is going to cost me about $8000, mainly because of the fees (procedure is going to take 3 hours)
anyways... my credit is awful (lost job, etc, etc) I have money to make payments and am getting myself back on track but you know how long it takes to repair credit.
well my sister-in-law agreed to cosign with me... she has excellent credit and in fact... she just got surgery that cost $5000+ and used care credit but then paid it off.
with my awful credit and her excellent credit-- is there a chance of me getting approved with her co-signing? If so, what company would you suggest?
Thanks Additional Details nothing like breathing strips would work. i have a deviated septum and my nose is crooked (hence the deviated septum) so can't breath... it is necessary to be done asap.
also.. my insurance will not cover it.. already tried.. with a big fight and lost. also.. the job that I lost didn't pay very much and I have another job (transcription at home) so i couldn't collect any money.. but it doesn't pay very much at all.. but regardless. i still have it.
also... i'm not going to get into details.. but lets just say my sister-in-laws owes me this--- believe me there is no friendship to ruin--- she offered to do this for me for a reason-- not just to be nice.. |

Simply put- if she agrees to cosign, they should approve you. My sister's credit was terrible, but my mother cosigned for her auto loan. My sister was approved. The downfall to this situation is that if you fail to pay the monthly bill, it looks bad on her credit as well. Thought you'd like a nice, to-the-point answer.
Hope it all works out for you! |

Find a job or a couple of jobs that don't require talking and save up for your surgery instead of relying on other people. There's a reason you can't get a loan by yourself because your credit is bad. So why would you risk messing up your sister in laws credit? |

There has to be more to this story than what your telling us. What you are saying makes no sense.
I need more details.
There is no reason insurance wouldn't cover this procedure ,it's not that big a deal. |

If you have a medical condition that prevents you from keeping gainful employment (as you suggested it is the reason for being unemployed), you ought to file for disability with the Social Security office. Or you could get on Medicaid.
I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives to surgery. Have you thought about a the Breathe Right strips?
No offense, but you shouldn't be using your sister's credit for your surgery. If you don't have the money (or credit) to pay for it, don't buy it.
If you really want the surgery, wait until you have the cash. |

One idea: if you can have the surgeon or your family doctor to give an opinion letter to your insurer or a government agent like Welfare, Rehabilitation that the procedure is medically necessary and not a cosmetic procedure, then you can probably have some of the expense offset by a certification of medical necessity. Not to get carried away; but, your sleep pattern requires good nasal breathing to avoid health problems with your breathing and general health. The co-signor approach is something I would avoid if possible. Friendships are often shattered by these deals. But, if you can have liability co-sponsored by a third party, then it would feel better to me if you asked your sister in law to co-sign. Good luck. |

If your insurance will not cover this procedure then something is wrong with this scenario. IF your Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist codes this properly most every insurance I know of WILL cover it. The problem is that it seems no one thinks it serious enough to be a medical crisis.
I do not care that your SIL "owes" you one or not this is a disaster ready to happen.
With all due respect your question seems a bit melodramatic when you say you can not work because of a deviated septum. Almost as common as the ordinary house fly.
See the proper specialist, tell them your money woes, let their office call your insurance company but stay away from family with money issues. So you hide something for her one time it will end in disaster! |

If you can find a sucker to cosign for a loan could you email me their name..Sure you can get a loan with a cosigner the hard part is trying to find a cosigner. |

If you still have health insurance...this may be covered (with a big fight with the insurance company). Assuming you don't...as long as your sister in law has great credit...they should approve you.
It is critical that you keep your co-signer up to date if there are any issues like your not being able to make a payment on the new loan. By co-signing a loan for you, she has put her credit on the line and if you default...her credit will be ruined right along with yours. If you can't make a payment...tell her immediately rather than waiting till you're 3 months past due and her credit rating has been damaged. |
