iamme | Never can get a credit card? |
Don't answer if you don't actually know the answer, because I read some of the other peoples questions/answers on here and it seems to be that some answers to the same question are conflicting. So, if you never had a credit history, you can never ever get a credit card EVER?????
How do old retired people in like their 70's who never even graduated high school get one then????? And high school students??
This is so stupid and doesn't make any sense.
So, how am I supposed to ever get one in my life?? I made this new post, but have the other one still on here, but I don't know if the question expired or not. Additional Details I am a college grad.
Look, I want a credit card like now, or at least in the next few months. Is there a way to do this?? I have heard of high school kids having these! |

The answer to your question is you can get a credit card. Now with no credit history your options are limited. Most people have started their credit with store cards like jc penney's and sears (try dillards also) or gas cards. Gas cards are good to start with and most have rebate programs. If you absolutely want to try regular credit cards go for capital one, orchard or hooters mastercard. They are mainly subprime lenders, so they will lend to people with no or bad credit. Be careful because you will most likely have super high interest rates. |

You need to be more specific.
Which are you? An old person in their 70's who never graduated high school? Or a high school student?
You won't get one as a high school student, unless you're 18 and can prove you have income. Or if you have your parents co-sign.
And old person in their 70's can get a card too. If they can prove income.
I'm really not sure about your question, since you didn't give much detail about your question specifically. |

you build credit by making money and paying bills. So get a job, get a car and a phone or something, pay some bills on time, and you will build enough credit to get a card. Then, you can learn the misery of debt just like the rest of us! |

Get a Jcpenny Card. That the way I started. I wish debit card were around then. I would of never got one. I think Credit Cards are bad. Even through I still have two. I pay them off every month that I use them. |

Ok, I know the whole credit thing is confusing but here is how i did it. I did not get a credit card until i was 19. It is possible. You dont need a car or a phone just a job. If you have a little pashints you can apply for 2 credit cards online one visa and one master. I would try Chase for the visa and pick a master card. This might sound wrong but if you have to lie on your aps. dont over exaggerate but if your expenses are more then what you make, put that you make more then you do or dont put all of you expenses on it, they will never know they dont ask for pay stubs or bills. Dont get upset when you dont get approved. Once they have you in there system they will start to send you pre approved cards in the mail. At this point you can not be picky take what you can get. After you get you first card and spend some money and pay your bill in full every month on time. Even though you have a minimum payment sill pay all the money you put on it. Soon you will start to get cards with a better apr rate and larger limits. What ever you do, DO NOT apply for more then 4 in 5 months the more times your credit is looked at the lower your scour. This may take a few months. If you dont want to wait a few months you can get what is called a secured credit card. A secured credit card is more like a check card, you can only spend what you put on the card. Exp. you give the credit card company $200, you have a 200 limit but unlike a check card you have to pay a minimum payment every month. After a few month of paying on the card you will get unsecured (regular) credit card offers in the mail. Anybody that is over 18 can get a secured card. I know it is a pain but it has to be done. You can not get anything big in life with out credit. One more thing after you get your first unsecured credit card NEVER get ride of it even if you dont us it always keep it open if you close that card you will lower you scour. |

You have to start with like a Department store my first when i was 17 was a JCPenney, then fashion Bug, the I got a First Card Visa, then I got divorced mind you the JCPenney card was in 1985. So how i am just finishing up rebuilding. You can also do this if you want go to Aspire.com, Orchard, and Bank of Marin they gave one to me when no one else would. Pay some fees but they will report to the 3 bureaus every month then you can build up a rating to go to the big guys and just leave those who no balance (but never cancel a card not good for your credit score). Almost 2 years ago mine was 450 now it is 675 I really do know what I am talking about :) |

really, the best place to go is orchardbank.com
they will offer the credit card to people with high risk possibilities. You can either get an actual credit card, or you can get a secured card. either one will look like a credit card, and either one will work just like a credit card.
i have terrible credit & this helped.
also, go to a gas station & apply. they are very relaxed in what they offer.
you need to start little to get established.
i hope i've been helpful.
the reason it's so hard...is that you are a risk since you have never had credit..therefore, you could really blow it & they will end up paying for your negligence. with a car or a house, you have something they can come & take if you miss payments. so they are not as concerned.
that's why it's so hard when you're fresh.
and, don't go out trying to get all of these things...each "hit" you make to your credit report for applying will knock your points down. |

Do you have a job,do you have a phone? When you reach college ,they take a risk with you, on credit cards.Have you got a checking account. If you have a checking account, get a debit card, usually Visa, this will help you build up credit.Keep in good standing, then the offers will start coming in.Read all the small print on credit card offers, know the facts. Some cards want a annual fee, also the rate can change, stiff penalties on going over your limit.Cash advances ,have a higher percentage rate. |

You might try and get a secured credit card. That is putting a certain amount of money into an account and that is what your credit limit would be(i.e.$500). Use this account to buy your merchandise, pay your bill on time, don't go over limit, and eventually you might be able to get an unsecured account |

Paris Hilton has a gazillion dollars and everybody knows it. Do you?
Keep that pay as you go phone, you'll never establish credit.
I had a credit card in high school because I had a job and I ESTABLISHED credit with small, financed purchases before applying.
If you just want to buy books get a pre paid credit card (just like your phone) and you can order online. But you won't establish credit.
Otherwise you have to pay your dues LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE!
And you claim you are in college! No way! |
