If they choose to send it to the credit bruew. One bank I used would send it after 30 days and another bank just shut the account and never did anything. But it can take years for something to get on your credit. We found a verizon account on ours in Novemeber from 2005. It was fraud but it still showed up on our account |

if by help, you mean not hurt, then yes it will help your score. if you continue not paying that account, your score will continue to drop and drop, until it parks at the lowest possible. by paying it off, you allow your score to rise again, as credit scores naturally do. |

It will help.
Your payment history usually stays on your credit report for two years. Not paying it at all will stay on your credit report for 7 years ( at least in the state of Texas ) |

It's not going to help your score a lot but, it does looks better when a lender manually examine your credit file. It shows that you are trying to right your wrongs. |

Nope. When is it set to come off your report? It might just be better to ride it out if you are almost at the 7 year mark. If not, then paying it off is an option, however get it in writing that the account is paid in full, before you pay a penny. That's so if the mark isn't removed all you have to do is send that to the reporting agencies as proof. |

It's always better to pay off debts. It may not affect your credit score, but you can truthfully tell a lending institution that you paid the debt. Sometimes this helps when trying to get a loan. |

still pay it off.
it may be too late and its on yoru record already but that would be the first step into recovering your record by paying it off. |

yes, but the damage has already been done. If your balance is routed to a credit collection service, then your credit will look terrible. What you need to do is to ask the credit department of whoever you owe money to to keep this off your credit report.
Talk about how good your credit is, what you hope to use your good credit to, MOST IMPORTANTLY HOW THEIR REPUTATION AS A FAIR AND UNDERSTANDING CREDITOR DEPENDS ON IT.
these days credit companies are really stingy about money and act like a bunch of jerks, but hopefully you can convince the other person you're talking to that they would want the same thing if they were in your position, and that you'd help them out of this ever happened to them. |
