Well over In the UK the charges are £35 ($70). Luckily there are campaigns to get bank charges back over here as it doesn't cost them £35 to send out a letter saying you're over drawn. See if there are any campains around in the US by searching the net. Or go to this website www.moneysavingexpert.com.
It is and English site but he's very good with money and might know where you stand.
Good luck |

Contact your bank and see if you can resolve this issue. Most banks these days are getting away with ripping off consumers with there fees. For instance, if you bounce a check, its going to cost you at both ends plus the amount of the check. If you use an atm thats not your bank, some can charge you as much as $2.50 per transaction. Ever heard of the term grabbing a bull by the horn, well its different now. Its called grabbing you by the balls. There going to tell you that they are well within the law to charge these fees. All banks suck. |

WOW!!!!!! That is an insane amount to charge. I'm not familiar with U.S. Bank however other banks that I have dealt with will reverse the overdraft charge if it was for a small amount. Go talk to a manger and (hopefully) they should reverse the charge for you........if not then it's time to switch banks......... |

if it's your first time overdrafting and since it was not in your fault technically, go to your bank or call customer service (on your card) explain your matter and hopefully they will lift it for you! I overdrafted once, well the money was in there just posted after the withdrawl and they charged me for it and lifted it when I explained to them what happened but 2 mos. ago when I overdrafted cuz I forgot about an automated pay, they wouldn't credit it back because they said they have done it before :(. .. |

This has happened to me before, most overdraft fee range form $33-$50, better luck next time. |

Why ask me?
|
These are the penalties you agree to when you open the account. Some of them may be penalties from the bank that the bill you paid the bill to also. Your bank will cover these and charge you. Best bet in the future is don't let your account over draw.
By the way...sorry to hear about your dad...hope he gets better. |

Check with your bank. You probably have an overdraft fees. |

Call them and ask. I imagine you may have forgotten to deduct a check. With all the added stress of an ill father, it could easily happen. While on the phone ask if the have overdraft protection. This way if it ever happens again, your banking institution will automatically deduct monies from another account to cover the overdraft. I hope your father is on the road to recovery. |

Call customer service right away!
You probably have overdraft fees and if you speak nicely to customer service they might be able to waive them for you.
Calmly tell them that you'd like them to waive the overdraft fee. If they tell you that they can't do that, talk about what a responsible customer you have been and say that they should waive the fees or you might go to another bank.
As long as you are persistent (but don't yell at them), they'll probably waive the fees for you. Good luck! |
