Pay off car, or pay off credit card? If anyone can give me financial advice it would be appreciated.?
Ok, so here is the sisuation.
I have a new car loan for 21,000K dollars, at 8.5% interest. My payment is about 390$ a month.
I owe a installment payment to Bank of America, for two credit cards I had years ago. The credit cards are now closed, and they are locked in at 2.25%. for which I owe about 3,000$ for each card. I pay 65$ for one card, and 76$ another-per month.
I've recently landed on 6,000$ and am wondering how I should deal with it.
Should I put 6,000$ towards my car purchase? Or should I pay off the credit cards-keeping in mind that they are on a repayment program for 2.25% each at a fixed rate.
I have no other debt- infact, I have recently just payed off- in the last 2 months, about 7,000$ in credit cards. I am trying to help rebuild my credit score ect. What action would be most beneficial to me? The credit cards were delinquent about 2 years ago, but they are now seen as "current" on my credit report. what would be best for my credit?
Thanks

Pay off your credit card and then apply the balance to your car loan. When you pay off your credit cards it improves your credit score a little immediately with this you may be able to refinance a loan for your car at cheaper interest, plus car value depreciates as soon as its off the lot. Not much of an investment.

Pay off the one with the highest interest rate.

Do you happen to know your credit score? if you have the credit score to support it look into balance transferring the two cc to a 0% also do you own your own home and have any equity built up??

Split it up.

Pay 1500 or so to each credit card which will lower the balances significantly

and the rest to the car payment (which has a higher interest rate)

someguy from Canada
I'd say pay off the two cards(about 3 thou each) with the six grand. Then they're done, freeing up the 65 and 76 to go towards your car payment. On the other hand, the car loan has a higher rate of interest, I'd still clear off the cards though, like I said, then they're history.

Pay off your car you'd be earning the spread (6.25%) on your money by doing so. As long as you keep your card payments on time this will have nearly the same effect on your credit.
